Earliest month for a green wedding

Catherine, on September 15, 2018 at 16:52 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 6
I live in Montreal and my fiance and I want to get married in 2020. I personally want the pictures to be full of greenery (trees and shrubs budding/bloomed) and I'd like to have a venue that has a garden/is not in a city area. What is the earliest time we can have our wedding to have this? I was thinking end of April or beginning of May, but my mom thinks it's too early and everything will be brown. We don't care about it being cold (10-15 degrees), we rather that than it be too hot. Lately it feels like winter get's extended and the weather is so unpredictable in April/May in our area! It's like Russian Roulette to choose a date. You might get a snow storm or heat wave.

Thanks guys! It's definitely a tough choice because winter may be extended or spring may come early. You never know. And while I want it to be green in the pictures I also just want to marry my fiance already!

I agree with Bianca... when you live somewhere where winter can be drawn out... it's not just actual snow you need to think about, but the landscape recovering from the snow.

When I lived in Calgary, it snowed in April... and by the time I moved home near the end of April, the snow was only mostly melted, but the ground was brown and filthy.

I would suggest June. Otherwise, like you said, you're playing russian roulette with the odds of having a green backdrop for your wedding.

I disagree with everyone and think you should aim for late May/Early June if you want guaranteed greenery. Just from my memory, May can still be a little brown for the plants.

I find the season changes are getting more and more unpredictable! I'd agree with Stephanie with early May being the best bet, maybe considering Mid-May?

I live in Thunder Bay and it's definitely not green by that time but growing up in London, I remember the trees blooming and having leaves by end of April.

It varies so much here! This year May was warm for us too but last year it was really cold and everything was late to bud/flower. And we had a snow storm in early April. Thanks for the input! I am glad someone else doesn't see it as a bad idea.

I think late april/early May is best! I'm not sure about Montreal but here in Toronto the last few years at the end of may have been HOT! We're getting married May 24 and I'm concerned about it being too summer by then hahah!! But then again this year we also had an ice storm in April..... I think early may is your best bet! Tho may have to be more cautious of rain!
