It was just my mom and I. My FH and I want it to be a surprise when he sees me coming down the aisle so I don't regret it at all. But if having him there is part of your excitement, that's up to you. As long as you remember that how YOU feel in it is most important 😊

The first time I tried on dresses, my FH went with me. It was fun and I liked seeing what he liked haha. I went with my sister and my FMIL when I actually got my dress so he didn’t see it.

I ended up dress shopping by myself. I am not really close to anyone where I live that I wanted to share this experience with, and those that I am live out of province. I ended up narrowing it down to two dresses, then went back for a second appointment and had my FH and our two boys there. I tried on both dresses for them and they all told me what they thought, of course our boys are young so to them I looked beautiful in both lol! However, it was the reaction of my FH to the one particular dress I was leaning towards that sealed the deal. I didn’t and haven’t told him though which dress I picked as I sent him and our boys out to the car after I was done trying them on. He has a vague recollection of what they look like but since I picked out my dress over a year ago, and we had to push our wedding back to next year. I know that he will be surprised the day of our wedding.

My FH didn’t come dress shopping. My stepdad didn’t come either. It was my mom and my sister.


For me, if my FH and/or stepdad were there it would take away from the surprise the day of. I want to capture their expressions seeing me in my dress for the first time on the day of the wedding!

View quoted message I also had that feeling! I believe its because we are so excited about our dresses that we just want to involve him. As he is our best friend.Im also horrid at secrets! So maybe the solution is you show him a picture with you in it but its a selfie with a veil/tiara on with no mirrors behind you, thus involving him but not giving away the big surprise!

My FH doesnt want to see anything about my dress until day of. But i feel if he had come it would wreck the look of shock on our wedding day.

My fiance didn't come, but I showed him pictures of everything I tried on without telling him what I picked.


I'm glad he didn't come as he liked some of the dresses that I hated!
I'm also looking forward to the first look so I don't want to ruin the surprise.

Im not going with my FH, but you could go with a close friend or coworker or just your daughter.

He didn't come shopping with me but he did see me in my dress before the wedding. To me it still felt completely different when I had hair and make-up done on our wedding day.

I'm not bringing FH. I'll have my mom and MOH and I've been thinking of asking FMIL (she only has one son so it'll be the only chance she has).

I didn't - but we were both in agreement that we didn't want him to see my dress until the day of the wedding. I loved how he looked at me when we were doing our first looks and it was the first time he saw me in my dress.

I went with my Mom, Sister/MOH, Dad, Baba, and MIL. It all depends on the types of opinions you want though. Out of who I brought I valued my Dad's opinion the most!

If you and your FH both don't care about seeing you in the dress I say why not?! Besides, even if he does see it you have a couple options. 1. Don't tell him which one it was that you tried on that you buy. 2. If you put one on and can sense it is "the one" you can have him leave the room. 3. Don't where your hair or makeup all fancy and then when he does see you on the wedding day it will be completely different - plus it would have been almost a year since he had seen it last!
