Dress for a 2nd reception

Janaya, on December 12, 2018 at 15:04 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 13

Hey! long story short, my FH's family lives in montreal and we are in Saskatoon SK.. We are having a traditional wedding for us here, and his parents are coming, and for our honeymoon we have decided to travel back to montreal with them, going to various different places along the way and then spending 2 weeks in montreal So! with that being said, his parents are throwing us a reception party at a venue the following weekend! now the real question is.. should I wear my wedding gown again? or should I purchase a white dress from a store like le chateau and wear that instead? it will be like a formal reception with food and music and probably a couple of speeches as well but I don't know if I should or not haha! I wont know any of the people attending

Check with the in-laws but I would think wear it. The second batch of guests would probably be thrilled to see it and you as you were on your wedding day.

For me personally I would wear my dress again as I love it so much. However if you dress is bulky you may not want to bring it with you.m Also if it is a less formal event you can definitely use that as an excuse to get a second dress.

I would get another dress! What a perfect reason to do so haha!

I'm actually thinking about doing the same for my 1 reception, my wedding dress is super tight and I'm worried I might give up in it... I just want a back up JUST IN CASE. But not another Bridal dress for $$$$

If it's not a formal reception, opt for a cute white dress from Le Chateau! If it's semi-formal or a black tie reception, then it would be a perfect excuse to utilize your wedding dress again. I mean, when else are you going to wear it again?!

    Wear your dress again!
I attended a delayed reception several months after my cousins wedding ceremony and she was in a traditional gown. It definitely helped set the tone for the event ☺️

Go for the wedding dress! If you’re really unsure maybe have a frank conversation with your mother in law to be and find out more about the venue and party and what she anticipates for “attire”. If you have an excuse to re-wear the dress though I’m all for it! Have fun!

Definitely an excuse to wear the dress again!!! Just be wary, you may want to dry clean both of your outfits before re-wearing them. My FH is taking his tux on our honeymoon cruise, and day one I'll be sending it to be dry cleaned before the first formal night.

If it's a reception like how any wedding would have one but just the following weekend then I would of course wear the dress again! Why not??

If it's more of a get together/ backyard bbq type of event (I know you said hall but you know what I mean - the atmosphere) then I would run it by the parents to see what they think but I would personally be leaning towards buying a white cocktail dress.

    Hi Janaya,

I think it would be fun to wear the gown again! How many times are you gonna get the chance to re-wear it?!

Especially since you said it will be formal and it is a reception!

If it is a formal reception, I would probably vote your wedding dress. But I would speak with your future in-laws and see what it is they were envisioning. Use that as your guide.

I think its completely up to you.

me personally. I would want an excuse to wear my dress again! Smiley smile if you don't want to go that formal, but still want to be more formal than a cocktail dress. I would get a white bridesmaid dress.
