Dress Alterations during Covid

Kelsi, on April 19, 2020 at 19:08 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 2
Hi, Surrey, BC bride here!

Has anyone had any luck in finding someone who is still doing dress alternations during this time in the Lower Mainland BC area?
If so, could you comment on how that worked? Virtual pinning/measuring? Contactless drop offs, etc? Just wondering what my options are because my dress needs some adjusting before our July 25/2020 small ceremony. Thanks!

I'm not sure how strict things are in BC, but on the east coast all non essential business are not permitted to have customers inside. (There is a $10,000 fine for a business breaking the emergency measures act, plus fines for the customer.)

There could be a way for you to video conference and perhaps they could guide someone else to pin the dress so they know how much to take in, or how far to hem and then have the pinned dress dropped off for alterations. But I imagine it would be complicated and I doubt they would guarantee the level of perfection they could do in person (my seamstress spent about 25 minutes pinning my hem because she wanted it perfect)
Personally I would contact some seamstresses and see what they think can be done. They may suggest waiting until June to see what the situation is and putting a rush on your dress. Waiting isn't fun but it may be your best option right now.
