Dress alteration- changing to corset

Kirsten, on January 20, 2020 at 01:22 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 7
Hey everyone! I need some reassurance. When I went shopping for my dress I tried a 16 on in the store, the lady pinned enough back that she said i could safely order it in a 14. Well that is what I did as I am not experienced in any of this dress stuff so took her experience. Anyways I did not try the ordered dress on until last night and it is too tight! I already considered a corset back because I love the look. Has anyone changed their zipper to a corset to accommodate for weight fluctuations? Will this help?

Thanks! I'm 3 months away and panicking. Going to my seamstress sunday.

Yah I'm going Sunday and she said that a corset will allow me to fluctuate a size or two in both directions

Ugh i hate that i always go up a size when they say that its easier to take it in than not being able to fit into it. head to a steamstress this weekend and they will be able to fix it no problem!

    $75 is an amazing price!
My seamstress was wonderful. I paid about $250 for my hem (5 layers!), bustle, new buttons, and to fix a bit of loose beading. Plus she said that if I need it taken in closer to the wedding she will take care of it ❤️

Thankfully she already said she can do it and it's like 75$. I actually prefer the look of a corset back I just want to make sure it will fix the fitting issue

Your seamstress will know if it's possible. And as Candice said it might be possible/easier/cheaper to let the dress out a little bit.

Unless there is a ton of beading or intricate lace near the zipper it's probably possible to swap the zipper for a corset.

It shouldn’t be too difficult for them to do this if they know what they are doing. But it really all depends on the material and the style. They may be able to let the seams out on the sides a little to give you more room, depending on how much fabric is there and how much you need to let out.
