Does a wedding ring karot have to match the engagement ring?

Ashley, on June 27, 2017 at 23:04 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 6
My engagement ring is 14k and I'm looking at wedding bands wondering if it should also be 14k or if I could drop it down to 10k without noticing a difference? I'm afraid they may wear at different paces and look off few years down the road.

One thing I have learned from being married before is that a 10k band will wear better. My 14k would change shape but my 10k retained its circular shape. The more gold in the metal, the softer it becomes.

It doesn't have to be, but there can be a difference in color, especially in the yellow and rose golds, and the rings will wear/scuff at different rates. When you go shopping, put them next to each other and see if it looks good or not and go from there.

I never thought about this but you raise a good point! However I really don't think you'd notice a difference...

I agree with everyone else, as long as you think they look good together, I don't think they have to be the same karat. With saying that though, my engagement ring is 18 karat rose gold and the 14/10 are actually slightly different colours, so I will probably go with the same karat as my engagment ring to match.

My engagement ring has a bit of a strange shape and I couldn't find a wedding band to match it so I just got whatever one I liked and they look great together even if they don't fit perfectly! So yeah, just get whatever you like cause you're the one who has to wear it Smiley smile
