Do you have a rainy day backup plan?

Sinéad, on November 5, 2019 at 09:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 16

No one can predict the weather, no matter how much you hope for clear skies! Are you having your wedding outdoors? Have you thought of a backup plan in case it rains? Will you embrace the weather and get some beautiful umbrella shots while you’re at it?

My wedding is 17 days away here in Raincouver- it's all indoors. If it doesn't rain- Awesome! If it rains, well I expected it

I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed that I won’t need a back up option, but I live in a province where it has SNOWED in July!!!

Both our ceremony and reception are inside so rain will not really be an issue, we'd just do a few cute outdoor umbrella photos instead of some of the snowy photos that I hope for.

We did and almost had to use it!
The venue's "plan B" for the ceremony in the reception area. So they would've asked guests to take their respective seats, and we would've stood in front of the head table. Luckily, the weather turned out amazing at the very last minute lol so we didn't have to go that route.

We didn't need a rain-back up since both ceremony and reception were indoors. Our ceremony space has an glass ceiling so we had natural lighting and were able to open up some of the panels since the weather was good.

I did not. We got soaked.... lol

I didn't like the idea of an indoor wedding since it would be the same spot as the reception, looking back at it maybe we should have? Smiley tongue

Our ceremony is indoors, but all our photos are before the ceremony outdoors.

I'm hoping it doesn't rain, I'll be armed with umbrellas if it does! And hair dryers so I won't be stuck in a wet dress all night long...

Our venue has that option for couples if the ceremony outside isn't possible and indoors as a back up plan.

I hadn't come up with an alternative plan until a few days before when the weather forecast, which had been predicting sunny weather, suddenly was calling for a thunderstorm. Rain is one thing, thunder and lightening another thing. Luckily, it was a shortlived forecast and I was able to abandon my indoor plan soon after looking into it

FH's parents landscaped their back yard just for our wedding, so we have to have it out there no matter what now lol. Probably just use umbrellas, and I wouldn't be in the least bit upset if it does rain since you can get some gorgeous photos

We embraced the rain! We could have opted to go inside for the ceremony, but decided to go with it instead. Made for some interesting and memorable photos and moments.

We'll just use umbrellas if we have to but I hope the rain stays away!

Yeah we have an indoor backup for the ceremony. It's not nearly as nice though so really really hoping to be able to have an outdoor ceremony

Our venue has so many rooms, that if we needed an indoor location, they would set up one room for us to move inside.

Thankfully, our wedding day was just a little chilly so we did not have to worry, but it was helpful that the venue had space if we wanted to make the last minute decision

Everything we have going on will be indoors. While I don't worry about rain I do worry about snow. A little snow is fine, a lot of snow, I'm not so happy with the thought.
