diy wedding video ?

Jessica, on June 4, 2018 at 10:13 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
I was wondering if anyone has done or looking at doing at DIY wedding video ? I want a wedding video but it is definitely not in our budget ... Plus it's a little late in the game to be booking one now. But I had a thought about buying a GoPro , having someone use it to film the ceremony and then just passing it around at the reception .. anyone ever done this or is this maybe the worst idea ever Smiley xd

My future SIL did this at her wedding last year. Her other brother had the video camera and it was great, he got people giving them advice and wishing them congratulations, it was really nice. There's a clip of my fiance telling her husband if he hurt his sister, he'd get him. It was really funny. I actually find a more relaxed setting on video gets some really good footage. Go for it! It's not crazy, and you won't regret it!

Check your library for a gopro.. our public library rents them out and I think we are going to do that. Videographer isn't in our budget either but I'd definitely like to have some video footage!

We have two GoPros (well once is ours, one is my FH's Brothers). We'll be positioning one in the front row at the ceremony, and one on the archway just above us.

We just want our vows captured on camera.. otherwise we don't care about anything else.

I’m going through WeddingMix since I’m in the same situation. My in laws are also setting up a camera on a tripod at the church to record the ceremony

I did something similar to this but through a company. It was way cheaper than professional videographer and made my video much more special since it was filmed by my guests. I rented HD iPods from Wedit (there's also weddingmix who does something similar) and gave them out to my guests. Once my day was over, I sent the iPods back and they uploaded it to their website, where I could either download all the videos/photos for free (well the price was included in the rentals) or I could pay to have them edit the video. I ended up paying for the editing, and just got it back. They did an amazing job!

If you don't want to go with a rental, you can totally just buy a GoPro and do the editing yourself. I just liked that I could have a couple of different angles throughout the day since we had 5 iPods given out.

I was thinking about editing my own video, my sisters boyfriend will be filming for us. A videographer was not in our budget as well. Really cool idea with the go pro!

I think this is a great idea and I’m sure you can make it work.

I know it’s extreme but how wild would it be to have 2 go pros - one being passed around by guests and one being worn by your officiant? I know it may be extra (and borderline tacky?), but I think it’s also playful and would add a fun element.

Whatever you decide - I’m sure it will be memorable.

    Keep is posted!
