diy Reception Decor- how to make it look nice but save money

Fiorina, on October 2, 2017 at 21:25 Posted in DIY 0 11
I'm getting married in July 2018 and am trying to figure out what I can realistically DIY for decor at the reception. I'm trying to save money by doing some things myself but I'm feeling a little lost. What are some things you DIY'd for your wedding and where did you get the materials?

If you start early and shop sales, you can DIY on a budget!

I lucked out and one of the decorators in my area was going out of business and selling her decorations, so I got great prices on a lot of items.

I’ve seen the mirrors at the dollar store. I spray painted spaghetti jars gold, then added glitter then sprayed a clear coat over top to save from buying mason jars. Also you can check out creativebag.com for supplies too. They have a couple of store in the GTA. Also look for faux floral wholesalers for different selection than michaels and the dollar store. You make have to “set up” a company account but it could make it worth it for you.

I'm going for a romantic, elegant, classic feel. My colours are going to be purples - lilac, lavender and a darker shade that I haven't settled on (thinking darker like eggplant but don't know for sure). My venue is an older Ballroom so it's going to need a lot of decor to make it pretty. Any help is greatly appreciated - I've been doing well with planning but seem to have hit a wall when it comes to decor.

Michael's! Thank you! I'm trying to figure out where I can get things cheaper than some places that do wedding decor. I'll keep an eye out for coupons. Thank you!

We made our wedding favours, centerpieces and a few other things. It takes time but if you hunt for deals (Michael's always has coupons) and can put in the time, it is worth it to save some money.

I think the dollar store and IKEA may have the mirrors but good call on Home Depot. Thanks so much Ashley 😀

I'm getting married in August of next year and they have lots of ideas for cheap center pieces from the dollar store. I am getting stuff from the dollar store and ordering from wish.com. Going to fill tall glass vases with water, submersible lights, flower gel beads, then flower petals and a floating candle at the top. I'm still looking for the glass round mirrors to sit the vases on.
