DIY or Buy? - Favours

Joey, on April 16, 2018 at 08:47 Posted in DIY 0 35

We want to know what wedding projects you're taking on by yourself, and which you are leaving up to the professionals.

Finally, when your guests head home at the end of the celebration, will their favors be something you've made, or something you bought for them?

This was one category that I did buy for guests using for Indian New Year time and it was nice that my family got to use what was left in their homes. Crystal tea light candle motive holders in nice boxes.

We're kind of cheating cause it's not a true DIY. A close family friend is a potter and is making birch tree tea mugs that will be paired with our tea we blend at work.

Haven't decided what it will be, but I know it won't be homemade and it won't be personalized. I want it to be something they will want to take home and use.

My mom and i made homemade strawberry jam and put it in cute little jars with everyone's names. The jam was a HUGE hit. And thank god, we picked 50lbs of strawberries to make it.

We are DYI them. I was planning on skipping the whole thing, but decided we needed something extra (Gold Charger and Black Napkins) we are doing Chocolate Red Rose on each plate. Should cost us about 20-30$ for 120 of them!

We are also doing Candy Dishes on the Tables.

I found the M&M design website and it's AMAZING!

I really want to get some now! Not as a giveaway but on the dessert table or on each table for snacks! So cute!

Our venue has a fire pit, so we're doing s'mores as our favours. It's so inexpensive but will tie into the venue. Planning to do something like this:

We are buying the bomboniere gifts. There is so many cute ones that I know people will use and it doesn't cost a lot. There are some edibles that we are considering . Just can't decided on which one.

We are DIYing chocolate seashells as our wedding is beach themed. The moulds are $5 on Amazon, the bags are $6 for 100, and we will use card stock to seal them in. The only expensive thing will be the chocolate but luckily I’m still a University student so I get a discount at bulk barn! We are both excited to start our DIY projects together!

We bought them.. they're bookmarks, so I think if I had made them it would look like a Grade 2 had done it.

Definitely DIY. I'm doing hot chocolate mix favours (to round out the rustic winter theme), so I'll be getting the bags from Amazon, the mix, chips and marshmallows in bulk, and ribbons/stickers from a craft store.

Luckily they keep a long time, so I can putter and make them in the weeks leading up to the wedding. I want to order personalized stickers though, to have our names/wedding date on them.

    Another DIY for us!

I am buying small sealable bottles and filling them with my uncles home made wine! Do to liquor laws we can only give these away at the end of the night but still thought they were perfect!

We're undecided on this one. I have an aunt who has loosely offered to bake biscotti for our favours but we'll see what happens the closer we get to the wedding lol.
