Emilie, on November 29, 2016 at 12:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12

Hi wonderful brides Smiley heart

Before sending the official invitations, there's a few things to order for your pre-wedding invitations:

Pre-wedding sationary:

- Engagement party invitations (if you’re throwing one)

- Bridesmaid invitations

- Groomsmen invitations

- Save the date cards

- Envelopes

Which ones did you order? Smiley smile

None of the above... We asked our bridal party in person and I will either do an e-mail save the date for our far out of town guests or include wedding info when I do our Christmas cards.

I'm thinking of save the dates because we have ppl coming from out of town. I did not "propose" to my bridesmaids either. It didn't even cross my mind.

We are considering getting save the date cards since we got engaged a year ago I would like to give people some advance warning. We haven't had an engagement party and aren't "proposing" to our wedding party. I literally asked my best friend in the McDonald's parking lot (we have been friends since we were 12 and that was 32 years ago so maybe in that amount of time you lose the formality)

Me: "Hey by the way would you be in the wedding party"

    Her: "Sure"

    Me: "Cool"

And life carried on. lol I haven't asked my sister in law yet mostly because we haven't been in the same place where I could ask and I thought that while the parking lot was appropriate that maybe text wasn't for some reason.Smiley xd

Oh the prom-posals! They are too intense..even dating....I remember a young man asking me to help him ask a girl to be his girlfriend when I was a baker...I wrote it out on a doughnut for him Smiley atonished cute, but what happened to "see a movie with me?"

You make a good point- I don't think at this point I would be able to stand in someone's wedding...but I would feel like a jerk saying no if she put a lot of work into it!

My sister didn't even ask me- she was just like- wear this, do this, sign here...maybe my social group are just presumptive?

Yeah I just feel like there's too many non-wedding proposals! I'm not sure if it's as popular in Canada but in the US, "prom proposals" have gotten crazy and it makes me feel so bad for the next generation for their wedding proposals. For my younger sister's prom, her friend gave her a red wagon to take around campus and in each of her classrooms he hid a giant puzzle piece for her to find. At lunch, she put all the puzzle pieces together and it said "will you go to prom with me?" and he was there with a bouquet of flowers. They weren't even dating! It's too much pressure. And now her future fiance will have to top that! Smiley atonished

And what if the person you ask can't be a bridesmaid? I would feel so bad if my friend did this elaborate proposal and I wasn't able to be a bridesmaid. When I asked my girls, I wanted to make sure that they knew it was ok to say no because I didn't want them to overcommit themselves. But maybe like you said, you kind of know going into it if someone will be able to be your bridesmaid? I have never been someone else's bridesmaid so my wedding was my first experience with it!

Save the dates make sense (just not on our timeline!)

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so...I think the last wedding I was in (prior to my sister) I don't even think my friend asked me...it was just assumed by both parties that this was happening Smiley xd

I agree! I didn't "propose" to my bridesmaids. We just had a conversation about it.

    We did Save the Dates.

    Nope- none of the above.

Our wedding is being planned in undera year, so we did not see the need for Save the Dates, we are skipping the engagement party...and I think that making a production of asking your wedding party to join you is getting a bit out of hand. I asked my sister to sign for me...it was sweet without being an expense that we don't need.
