Did you match your wedding dress style to your venue?

Miav, on September 30, 2019 at 15:16 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 16
Curious about this as I've been shopping for dresses lately. I've been leaning towards princess ballgowns/A Line style and I'm wondering whether to account for my venue style (garden rustic-ish) or not. How did you choose your dress? Did your venue style influence it? Will appreciate your opinions! Smiley laugh

    I did not.

Our venue was somewhat rustic, which we put a modern/tropical twist to. I wore a very romantic dress (lace illusion neckline).

I sort of did. My gown was A-line and very full, which might have been out of place for my garden ceremony, but fit in well in the banquet hall reception we had. I think it's about wearing what makes you happy Smiley smile

Yes and timing - winter so heavier fabric, also really small venue so my dress does not have a huge train, because then their would be no place for people to sit!

My wedding is outside and is a rustic wedding. I still chose an a-line dress. I would choose what you think looks good and what you feel good in.
Here is the dress I chose for my rustic wedding.

I thought of my venue for a bit - only because our ceremony site is very warm. It's a tropical atrium so the keep it hot 24/7/265 so even though we are having an October wedding, I wanted a dress suited for that (i.e. no sleeves). However, when I tried on sleeved dresses, my biceps felt squished.

Other than that, my venue didn't influence my dress style at all!

I haven't gone dress shopping but there is a post where someone has a ballgown for a garden wedding. I think it looks romantic. I think a ball gown at a garden wedding would be perfect.

Didn’t even think of my venue when I picked my dress - I picked something that I loved and could see myself walking down the aisle in.

Our venue is kind of boho/vintage/rustic which is my style so I had an idea that my dress would reflect the boho/vintage style. I also knew something like big glitzy ball gown would be out of place. I settled on a bohemian style a line. It’s light and dreamy

I honestly didn’t think about my venue at all while I was dress shopping. I was just concerned with how the dresses looked on me, how it made me feel and if it would give FH that “wow” effect as I’m walking down the aisle.

After I booked my venue and I was looking at dresses to get a feel for what I wanted I did feel some kind of pressure to pick a dress that fit the old hollywood theme of our venue. Then I realized that the dresses that really caught my eye were way more traditionally bridal and less red carpet and then I realized that I had to go with my vision of myself as a bride. I advise that you do the same. Try on what catches your eye and choose what you feel most like a bride in.

I didn't consider or try and match it to the venue...I think the only time that can really impact dress shopping is if it is a beach wedding, where some just don't work with the sand (really large dresses or long trails)

I honestly did not even think of my venue when buying a dress. I just bought what I liked. My theme is rustic chic, and my dress is lace. So I guess they do match, but that was not my intention going into dress shopping.

I would say just make sure you get a dress that you love and that you feel like a bride in. If it matches your venue, perfect, if not, I don't think i would worry too much about it

Nope! I chose my dress based off what made me feel like a bride! Has nothing to do with the venue imo.

Just got to try on all the different styles and go with one that makes you giddy and like you just know that "this is the dress I'm going to marry the love of my life in"!
