Did you do a cake tasting?

Joey, on September 12, 2018 at 08:11 Posted in Before the wedding 0 12

Did you do a cake tasting before you booked your wedding cake baker? Or did you do one after you booked your baker? Maybe you didn't do one at all!

Did your tasting change your mind about anything you had planned? Do you think cake tastings are necessary?

If you are getting cake I do think cake testing is mandatory. It’s just like your reception food, I wouldn’t decide without tasting.

We didn't have a cake testing, but we also didn't have a cake! If we had decided to do a cake, we would've gone in for a testing for sure!

We did our cake tasting before signing a baker. It was great help in deciding the flavours. And once we signed the baker our tasting fee was waived, so that was great.

We are undecided if we're going to get a cake or not! The catering company does provide cakes but we'll make our decision once we know how many guests are coming and how much food budget we have left. Even if we do, we're planning to get a very small one just for cake cutting purposes since we are having a buffet that night which includes a large selection of desserts already!

We found our baker at a wedding show last March... they had 4 or 5 flavours out for tasting in mini cupcakes, which we are doing, and we tried them all. 2 of the flavours we tasted will be used, as well as a 3rd we haven't tasted yet.

They asked us to reach out in September to book a consultation/cake tasting, once their busier summer season was over (our wedding isn't til January)... because I already know how good they are, and they gave us the price quote already, I was comfortable waiting.

We chose a bakery that we’ve had cakes and pastries from before, but we did a tasting after to choose the type of cake we wanted!

We're not doing cake, but donuts - and we definitely got a half dozen to try and narrow down flavours!

We aren't doing a cake tasting, because my sister is the one who is making our cake and cupcakes. We've had her amazing cake before, so no need!

We're doing 3 flavours for cupcakes (We have about 200-250 cupcakes planned!). Chocolate with vanilla icing, Spice cake with cream cheese icing and confetti cake with vanilla icing.

We haven't yet but I would love an excuse to do one Smiley tongue Of course we most likely won't do one as I don't think we would check out any bakery's that we don't already love.

Plus it's just a cake for the cutting ceremony - I'll be too full on wine and s'mores for any cake haha

I knew what i wanted for the style and tiers wise. I trusted my baker and got a sample of the custards and cake sponge to try and it was good. Italian sponge with 3 custards of vanilla, chocolate and lemon.
