Destination Weddings

Send out save the dates asap. just write "CUBA" on there so people can start making arrangements/getting fiances together. my cousin had a destination wedding and she booked the hotel and wedding with the hotel itself. then she went and checked flight places for deals going to that hotel for the week she wanted. make sure you give guests an itinerary page before you leave cuz once we got to DR everyone scatted and went off to their hotel or the beach etc and we couldnt find people. We ended up going to reception and getting everyones room numbers so we could find them and let them know the details. make sure youre super organized cuz my cousins wedding was not and we thought we were lolll

Thank you ladies for the insight. Totally agree with you both Madisyn and Katelyn. We are thinking of holding private legal ceremony here in Canada before our vacation wedding. Just feel more comfortable having all our paperwork in order. thank you

To echo Katelyn's point, getting legally married abroad can be overly complicated! That's why we have chosen to do a legal ceremony in Canada first with family and our witnesses (BM/MOH.) Our Punta Cana wedding is symbolic and all of our guests are aware!

I think the best place to start would be finding out how the legal stuff works when you are married in a different country. I've heard it's a massive process and very difficult. I could be wrong but you should definitely know before you start actually planning stuff. And maybe just go and talk to a travel agent and see what they recommend. I would also look into getting a coordinator because that is a lot of work for you to plan while in a different country.

Cancun has some great resorts for your family to enjoy their time around the premises. Another place to check out is Veradero. Look in those areas and resorts that may be of interest.

Hey Alicia! We are getting married in the Dominican in April 2020. We decided to go with a travel agent that specializes in weddings. We got quotes from a few places but ended up going with destinationweddings.com because of price and service. I would recommend going with a wedding travel agent because it takes SO much stress off of you! She was able to make resort recommendations that made sense for us instead of us trying to scour the internet for answers, she's there whenever our guests have a question so I have hardly gotten any travel related inquiries, and we got group rates that were cheaper than anything we could find online. 10/10 would recommend going that route!
