Destination Wedding Planner

Samantha, on January 18, 2019 at 13:53 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3

Has anyone used a destination wedding planner? I was contacted by a few and found out that they would do all the planning from flight, resort, speaking to the wedding coordinator at the resort, decor, flowers, photography etc...all this for free as they get paid some other way (like through the resort or something) and then if you want them to come to be there to organize on the day of the wedding there is a fee. Is this true for most? Just want to make sure this is legit. Just seems too good to be true that they are doing this and I don't have to pay for anything unless I want them to come on the wedding trip

Oh that’s a good idea I never thought to ask about contracts! I’m sitting down with them next week so I will make sure to find out all those details. I want a small intimate resort im having the hardest time deciding between Dreams Los Cabos, Dreams Riviera Cancun, and the Royalton Riviera (which is big but so niceee). Cabos is so beautiful and so different from the rest of Mexico, but a lot more expensive. Have you been to any?

Wow, that sounds like they do a lot! Have you looked at their contracts, or what guarantees they offer?

I know that many wedding venues have a coordinator or event manager who works with the couple as a part of the reservation of the venue, so even though I have not heard of exactly what you're describing it's not totally outside the realm of what some places are offering. I'd ask them to be very clear who they work for, what is guaranteed, to read a contract, and for them to provide you with any and all rules and fees before you make your decision.

    What destination are you considering?

We were in the process of doing a destination wedding (literally a couple days away from booking it) before we changed our minds.

I did not look into a wedding planner as the resort we were looking at had one that did all the planning from the resort. We also had our travel agent helping us with contact, flights, and resort information.
