Destination Wedding Help

Stacy, on August 16, 2018 at 12:26 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Hey everyone,

This is a questions for anyone who who has done a destination wedding before. Me and my fiancé are planning to get married in Jamaica next year. Did you plan everything on your own or use someone like a travel agent to help? Not sure how to get started! Also, how much notice did you give to people? I do not really care who comes but my fiancé wants to give more time in case more people want to come. We decided on destination as people were being a pain when we were planning our wedding here and now they are mad that we are getting married away lol...so much fun.

A travel agent is the best way to go. It makes things so much easier and less of a headache for you when it comes to planning. Some resorts also offer discounts and the travel agent would know best .
We were initially planning a destination wedding for about 2 months after being engaged and started letting people know right away( about a year and a half before we wanted to have the wedding) It wasn’t until we started letting people know that we had to change our minds based on who wouldn’t be able to come.

As others have said I think working with a planner or travel agent will take a huge amount of stress off you guys! A great option!
I would say send out your Save the Dates at least a year before the wedding to give people enough time to start working out vacation time at work! Formal invitations maybe 6-8ish months before?

I would go through a travel agent, seems like less hassle that way! I would also tell people as soon as possible so they can plan for destination wedding, sucks people are already raising a stink about it.

I would definitely use a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings. Mostly because they can usually get you a better rate depending on how many book, and they take care of so much of the work for you! A wedding in Jamaica sounds awesome! People will always say negative stuff, no matter what. So do what you both want to do lol.

My friends just did a destination wedding. We were on a cruise and they got married in Jamaica. the planner that they used in Jamaica was AMAZING!!!! our cruise itinerary changed at the last minute (less than 2 days before the wedding). so wedding date had to change and our location. and she handled everything so well. she had it all covered. was money well spent.
