Destination Wedding 2023?

Karly, on February 22, 2021 at 23:55 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
Hey Everyone! I am new here and just got engaged on Valentines Day. We have been together 9 years and don't want a big wedding and my fiancé comes from a very large family. I have always wanted a destination wedding as we both want a low key vacation wedding. We are talking about a date in April 2023. Am I being too optimistic? I want to hope that we have some level of normal by then but then there is a nagging feeling in the back of my mind thinking that it won't happen. Anyone else having these thoughts?

I’m planning my destination wedding for August 2022. I’m hopeful things will be better by then, but I’m working closely with a travel agent to make sure whichever airline/resort we end up choosing there will be an insurance package to make sure we can switch the date if we need to.

Congrats on your engagement! Destination wedding is a great choice though you will come across insurance to cover your basis for Covid and documents if needed to fill out. Anything happening of date changing or deposit loss could be avoided until knowing your ready to have a celebration in the clear of travel for others to make it. Local intimate wedding is a safer way to have family and friends present making your day as special.

    Congratulations!

I agree with Hank, if you're wanting something small and intimate you have plenty of time to plan and should travel still be an issue you could quite easily swap your plans for a more local destination. If you do book down south just make sure you get insurance that can cover any and all kinds of cancellations! Most of the resorts are ahead of this now as they want to be prepared (and that makes them attractive to guests too!) and they want you to visit safely.

First off, congratulations on your engagement!

Second, if you're looking to have an intimate destination elopement, you have a ton of time to figure it out. Worst case scenario, you can elope locally. I wouldn't stress over something that far away. Just enjoy the moment of being engaged to the love of your life.
