Destination Wedding?

Devyn, on December 27, 2020 at 09:06 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Is anyone out there considering a destination wedding? We are thinking of a wedding in 2022, in hopes that COVID will have settled and that we would be vaccinated by then and okay to travel. Not sure. Anyone with thoughts?

Your destination wedding can take place as long as the place you choose is available open. It would be good to ask information about rates, refunds, cancellation policy and rescheduling without penalty so your aware of what may happen if anything happens then. I know some of my cousins have done Destination weddings which Cancun seemed popular of many places. Keeping in mind this was before all this Covid started. I hope things work out for you two and get your date chosen.

I’m considering destination for 2022 as well and am having the same dilemma. There’s still too much uncertainty right now and I feel like I need to decide on a venue soon if I decide to do something local in 2022 instead. Such a tough call.

I wouldn't worry about availability. If you're considering a destination wedding, it's likely to be a smaller than typical wedding. If you keep the guest list at around the 50 mark or less, you'd be amazed at how many options open up to you.

That’s true. Unfortunately a lot of dates are probably already booked for 2022 depending on what you plan on doing- if you’re planning on looking here I’d add a COVID line or so to your contracts to protect yourself in case things continue. Wedding insurance is probably a good idea for people planning their wedding now as well

That's true! My only concern about waiting is that if we wait to feel things out and decide that we don't want a destination wedding, a lot of venues we like in Ontario might be booked up.

Agree with Arexy- it’s difficult to make any decisions at the current time. The good thing is though, you can wait until late 2021 to see how everything is and make the decision from there.

It’s difficult to say. Everything is so unpredictable. I would suggest waiting until the spring to see what happens.
