Decor ideas for a small venue

Dani, on June 11, 2019 at 16:04 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5

Hi guys! I'm looking for ideas on how to decorate our venue. How did you decorate your small/intimate venues?

We're getting married in a historic house in Calgary in September, around 50 people are attending (40 confirmed). The venue is pretty small. I don't want to overpower it with too many details, but I'd like to make it more personal. I already decided to use a wishing jar instead of a guestbook, and chair ribbons instead of chair covers. I'll be using a lot of fresh flowers such as baby's breath, sunflowers and lavender. Do you guys have any other ideas? I like simple/classic/rustic look. The colours are lilac, yellow and white. The house is surrounded by a beautiful park, lots of trees and flowers.

Thanks so much!

We had an old mansion as our venue and we found that we really didn't many decorations at all. We just put photos of us throughout the years on the tables and some ivy vines around as well. Other than that it was just our centerpieces and it looked amazing. I think if we did anything else it would have been too much because it was so stunning all on its own.

Maybe look at doing some simple decorations like that so it doesn't get to be too much?

Your ideas are great and enough to have as a personal touch. Nothing more I would say.

When it came out to simple décor for us being small of 72 guests, just a vase with coloured gel balls and LED immersable lights and white floral ball each table. The venue had lots of windows and sunshine coming through for the evening time.

Don't change what you have as you seem to have everything set to your liking.

I think what you have is great. Less is more when you have a smaller venue. Like you said you don’t want to over power it.
Small centrepieces, simple decor and small personal touches. Are you allowed to have candles in the venue? You can add some tea lights in votives to add some romance
