December Destination Wedding: go or no go?

Terrace, on May 6, 2020 at 15:08 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8
My wedding date is December 15, 2020 however it is planned to be a destination wedding in Mexico. My fiancé and I are just beginning to discuss alternatives but we’re both holding on to what we hoped the day would look like. Any other destination brides trying to determine what the next steps are going to be?

I dont know how comfortable people will feel traveling... especially if they have kids or elderly or underlying medical conditions. can you postpone till next summer instead?

Your venue booked Mexico can be postponed if needed to avoid any quarantined time held if that is your concern. Yourselves as well as the guests shouldn't feel drawn back from what your vision of the perfect day is planned.

I'm hopeful, but cautious that travel out of the country will be easy before a vaccine is made.

Here's my pessimistic side: If you are able to go I would expect to need to quarantine when you get back and maybe when you get there too, and I would imagine that there would be no travel insurance to protect you from cancellation or illness while you're away.
I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, I really really hope we can all travel soon!

If you've already booked it, then you might as well wait and see what the situation will be as it unfolds. If you haven't booked it though, you may want to have a plan B just in case it's too expensive or border restrictions make it a no go.

No it’s not destination. But if borders and everything is open then I’m assuming you won’t have a problem. My fsil has destination for next year in June and she’s keeping it... still far enough in advance so you kind of have time on your side for now Smiley smile

There’s still time Smiley smile December is a while away. Set a date for yourselves by when you make a decision. Ours is in Aug and I’m
Waiting to see what happens till June before we make a final decision. Maybe see how everything is going till October?
