Day of Wedding Planner?

Alexa, on June 18, 2018 at 16:39 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 10

I was wondering, how many of you went with a wedding planner? What do you think is the fair cost of a day of wedding planner? My venue insists that I have one so I'm going to need one but I'm trying to figure out what I need to budget for.

As Brittany said, you may not need to hire a day-of wedding planner; however, it sounds like your venue may not want to be held responsible for additional décor, etc. If you're unable to get help from your bridal party, family or friends, I would suggest considering hiring one just to be on the safe side. Some vendors charge additional for setup so you could also look into that as an alternative.

The lowest I've seen is $1,000 for a day-of wedding planner, which is steep considering he/she may not have much to do; however, it may be worth it for your peace of mind.

We aren't going with a planner as we feel with all the tools available online these days we can pretty much manage most of it ourselves! I thought of a day of planner but I was getting similar quotes around 700+ and I can easily get some family and my MC to help day of. Plus were getting married on Friday and the venue says we can go set up Thursday evening which makes all of that so much easier too!

I've never heard of a venue insisting on having a wedding planner! Where are you getting married?

I've hired a full wedding planner but for just the day of coordinator package she is 750-800 and that seemed about average for the day of services in my area. If your venue is insisting on one and you don't have the budget for it I would see about asking a family member you trust who is responsible, has thrown a party or event before and is willing to vet any issues on the day. You can then designate them as your day of coordinator if the venue is ok with that.

We originally went searching for a wedding planner as we are planning our Canadian wedding from Australia however the ones I loved were anywhere from $2000 - $8000 and in the end we just couldn't justify it. I actually saw a girl advertise her company on a weddings facebook page, so contacted her. She is a day of coordinator who has just sort of started her business in the last year or so, we are only paying $900 and she has told us we can use her to her full potential! She seemed a great fit for us & there was no limit on how many times we can contact her & how many questions we can ask!

We tossed up for quite some time but it just seemed easier & better to hire someone rather than having family and friends race around and not enjoy the day as much as they should- we are paying plenty for the wedding so I would like all our guests to enjoy themselves rather than have to work!

Seems to me that if the venue insists then THEY should foot the bill (#wheresthelie)

We initially searched for a DoC, and we’re quoted **** on average.

We ended up going with a full planner for other reasons.

If you have someone in your family and/or wedding party who can take the lead, then you may not need to actually hire one.

I also wonder if your venue has DoC’s that they would recommend.

If you do decide to hire someone see if you can find them on WW to get the discount.

If you can get family or a friend to help - then a small thank-you gift would be nice. But if you decide to get a day of/ month of planner like I am; the price I am paying is $1000 even. (Includes helping and coordination on day of - even water bottles on hand Smiley tongue, and 2 meetings month of as well as an itinerary for the wedding.)

If your venue is very hands off, they may know from experience that having a day-of coordinator is essential for your wedding, as they take no responsibility for your decor/outside vendors.

Many venues have a coordinator that will help day of, but it sounds like yours doesn't.

I don't think you need to hire a day of coordinator... if you have a relative or friend who is not in the immediate family or wedding party, they can be your go-to for the vendors, as well as the one who arrives early to make sure decor and set-up go smoothly.

You, and your parents or bridal party, are not going to have the means, nor time, to set up the day of, and you shouldn't be the go-to for arriving vendors and/or questions/logistics. If you already know someone who can be responsible for those tasks, you can appoint a coordinator from your friends/family who can be part of the planning to execute the day.

If you don't have someone who can take on that roll, there are wedding planners who do strictly day-of. I'm not sure the budget, I'm sure it ranges like much of everything else.

She says since its only the day of, she would like a planner to be there in case things go sour.

Why is your venue insisting you have one?
