Day of Timeline: Commando or Relaxed Style?

Veronica, on August 26, 2020 at 00:36 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 9

Hello Wedding Wire Friends!

As we know the big day is very busy and goes by very quick. There are lots of important points to hit throughout the day (ceremony, first dance, dinner start, last call) and a general schedule is required. However I am curious to hear how you are organizing your timeline for the day.

Months before our wedding I wrote out a day of timeline down to the half hour because I couldn't wrap my head around how it was all going to work. I felt so much better seeing it on paper!

How about you?

Are you hiring someone to coordinate and plan how its all going to go down for you?

Do you have our own timeline written down and ready to go? Distributed to your wedding party and the important people?

Or are you more go with flow and just ensuring that the ceremony starts on the time, the rest will sort itself out?

As your eventual day looms closer...I want to hear what your plan for the DAY OF looks like.

We’re getting married at a country club so we automatically have their wedding planner for the day to help us with the timeline but up until the ceremony I will definitely be following a timeline that I plan to create! I’m quite particular about a lot of things so I know I’ll enjoy organizing and creating my morning of time line Smiley smile

Haha oh dear!!!! Whenever I plan an itinerary all my friends call it “Commando Style” - I promise I was not thinking of under wear 🤣

When I read your title I thought you meant commando as in no underwear. I clearly need to get my head out of the gutter and actually read things!!!

Anyone else thought this was going to be about underwear, based on the thread title? Anyone? Smiley xd

We have a coordinator, who we will work with the month of to create a schedule where she'll keep track of it and make sure we're on schedule. Because we have a lot of time-sensitive vendors and a lot of moving parts, everything will be down to the minute (but it doesn't mean we're going to cram sixty things into each hour).

I have created a tentative timeline down to even 15mins. I just hired my day of coordinator who will help me refine and execute the timeline. If things don't go exactly on time she said she's very good at moving other things into its place so there is no wasted/waiting time!

I was more detail oriented to the precise timing for the photographer, videographer and DJ to know what to expect for the day. The starting time of 1pm was wedding ceremony items and getting ready to the ceremony, group/family photos, reception entrance to dancing.

I think our timeline will be pretty fine-tuned, only because the venue and our photographer are both insisting on a formal schedule haha.

Our photographer is going to help us with the timeline and to keep us on track. But I sort of had an idea of what we are going to try to do.

9-12 - pictures at each of bride and grooms house for getting ready

    12-1230 drive to ceremony

    1230-1 ceremony

    1-2 drive to reception

2-430/5 - bride/groom, bridal party, friend/family photos at reception site

    530 - dinner begins

    6-9 - different speeches, etc.

    9 - dancing starts

I’m more go with the flow but that’s because we’re just having a cocktail reception and dinner so there’s nothing else to worry about.
