Day of coordinator?

Jen, on March 4, 2021 at 08:42 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
We have narrowed down our venue search to our two favorites and now need to choose! One offers a day of coordinator for a fee. Do we need one? Not entirely sure what they do other than keep us on track with time/events. We have yet to decide if we're doing a church ceremony or ceremony at same venue.
Located: Calgary, AB

Thanks!

I would ask them to confirm what the coordinator will take care of before hiring them. I do think day of coordinators are worth it because they’ll make sure everything runs smoothly and any problems will go to them instead of you. You don’t want to have to worry about anything on your wedding day. Imagine even a tiny hiccup like the florist forgetting to set up one table or something like that. Or the officiant stuck in traffic and is going to be 5 minutes late. You don’t want to deal with that even though they’re relatively minor problems with easy fixes. Not to mention there could totally be bigger issues that someone needs to handle.
From from what I’ve heard coordinators at venues are more there primarily for the venue, not for logistics of the event. If that’s the case I’d recommend you hire an outside coordinator and skip this one.

My fiance and I have hired a day of coordinator where she'll be taking care of all of the set up of our decorations the way we want it for ceremony and reception. Our venue is setting up everything else. So tables, chairs, linens, plates, glasses. Our day of coordinator is also helping us with the timing of when we walk down the aisle and when we enter for our reception.

We're having a day of coordinator for sure. It takes the pressure off by knowing that everything will be taken care of properly the day of and to your specific requests. They make sure that all the vendors know where they should be and when and make sure that contract obligations have been met, among other things. But like already said, you can ask someone you trust to oversee certain things if a coordinator isn't within the budget.

You choose to get a Day of Coordinator, he/she will take care of the vendors and set up as needed for the venue on your behalf. Floral arrangements being put on the table and other information that is required for them to take care of the day. You find the work is much to do, consider the option to accept their services. You can decline if you have the help of family/friends to come out for setting up and vendors meeting you at a certain time or someone you put in charge.
