David's Bridal delivery dates - 20 weeks out!!

Hey everyone.

So last night, we finally got to go bridesmaid dress shopping at David's Bridal and it was a huge success. 4/7 girls found their dresses and the rest of us are going tonight so they can pick theirs (there is a limit on guest count so we couldn't go all together).

Anyways, when the stylist looked up the delivery on the dresses, the dates were either November 18 or November 4, about 20 weeks out from now. Our wedding is December 5! Has anyone else recently been to DB and experienced the same thing? She mentioned that due to everything going on a lot of things have been delayed.

What do I do ... the stylist said that they would probably be in before that but no guarantees and that the latest they would arrive would be the 4th/18th on November. I feel like this is super close and not leaving much room for delays or alterations.

Unfortunately I have to make a decision ASAP because I can't wait any longer to order these dresses.

HELP!

    Yes, same experience. Two of my bridesmaids ordered before COVID started so they were good but the other 2 had to just buy off the rack! Not ideal but they were able to get dresses from other stores as well if they found one they liked in a different colout.

    Oh I know .. i'm super nervous but it's all they could do .. the manager said that they would most likely come in earlier so I'm hoping for that. I also have a family friend who does alterations so I asked her if she could help me out when the girls dresses come in with a fast turn around time and she agreed so that's good. The reason why I had to go to DB is because I have a bridesmaid in the US and the dress color needed to be the same and Moores is also in the US and all of the grooms party is also in the US; both companies have the same colors. We had plans to go somewhere else back in April but everything got cancelled so we needed to change our plans

    Thats cutting it SUPER close to your wedding date... plus do the girls need alterations? if so it wont work. is there anywhere you can get from that has earlier delivery dates?

    Yes I will for sure.

    Yes they all chose their own style and it's going to look so nice when they are all in line. A lot of their dresses weren't available to try in the color we wanted so we couldn't' see it in person but I know it will look really nice. so exciting!

    That's wonderful! I can't wait to post all the dresses they chose, i'm just waiting on one more appointment but the dresses are gorgeous.

    The manager was excellent last night and took the time to help us out with everything we needed. She was definitely sympathetic and she said that I could call anytime to get tracking updates on our order so that made me feel better.

    That's a great outcome and I hope that's what happens to us. I'm more worried that my girls won't have time for alterations since it's only a couple weeks before the wedding, but fingers crossed.

    Thank you! for the most part everything went okay .. a few hiccups though. So a lot of the dresses at the store weren't even available to try on in our color or they were pretty worn out due to everyone trying them on.

    That's exactly what they said last night ... none of the dresses we wanted were in stock so I couldn't use the rush code but she said that they will most likely come in earlier but they need to say a much longer date just in case.

    So we also tried looking at the online store and the dresses were in stock but of course, none of the sizes that my girls need were available. Our dresses are sage green and it's a newer color for DB so they didn't make as many apparently.

    Hey, We ordered 6 bridesmaids dresses from David’s first week of Jan for a May wedding. We got 2 dresses this month, the other 4 apparently have been delivered to the store but they are still sorting through Shipments. I would order the dresses ASAP.

    Aw thanks!! But yes they did come in eventually and the final products were beautiful and we had a great time shopping there. I’m still a huge DB proponent! When I brought the delivery error to their attention they were total superstars and I have no doubt they would have resolved it in time if my wedding were going ahead this summer ☺️

    Not sure if this is helpful but prior to the pandemic I purchased a bridesmaid dress for myself for a friend’s wedding. The staff at David’s Bridal told me it would take about five months and the literally called me to tell me it was in three weeks after ordering it.

    When I went in even before COVID also they were projecting months for my wedding dress, and it was in within a month, I think they just try to set an expectation just in case! Definitely see about the option of rushing or ordering online (however the online DB store is American so you would be paying in American funds and are subject to the duty, exchange,S&H etc costs in addition)

    That's alright .. not every experience can be 100% amazing so it's good to know what could happen as well. It's great that they all came in eventually and sorry you had to postpone!

    Yeah if there’s a priority process (of the kind Veronica mentioned) I would definitely spring for that! I don’t mean to be all doom and gloom, but my bridesmaids and I went dress shopping at DB in mid-December. My MOH’s dress was ready in February but the others only began arriving in May! Worse, they sent one of my bridesmaids the wrong style! (Luckily we had postponed by that point so it wasn’t a huge deal as we now have a year to correct the situation).

    That's interesting as well! So what I might do is take the other advice regarding the "rush" code and if they can't do that, look at online ordering.

    Ouuuu I love a good cheat code! That's awesome information and I will definitely be asking for that to be added Smiley laugh That's so funny how all of a sudden with a rush code in cut the timing in half

    It's one less thing that I would want to stress about so hopefully they can do this for me too.

    My girls ordered from DB right when the pandemic started as we hadn’t gone yet and our wedding was originally in July.
    My girls ordered online. 1 girl got hers in 5 days and another in 8. When the store told us 20 weeks too.
    I think if your lucky enough for your colour to be in stock and it says “ready to ship” online. You’re golden.

    They told me the same thing last Sunday but the stylist was able to use a “rush” code for all 3 - no extra charge, it just depends on the color and style. They had to have a supervisor do this - could you mention that to them?
    With the rush code it brought them in 8-10 weeks. I totally know how you feel, I had a bit of a freak out as we were trying on dresses and the stylist said well typically it’s 20 weeks right now! And I was like but my wedding is 17 weeks sooo why are we trying on dresses then? And that is when she said don’t worry we can likely rush code them in. Best of luck!

    The one taking longer is extra length, since they didn't have that stocked in their warehouse. Good luck!

    Oh wow okay, thank you .. Darn. I wish we could have gotten in before COVID. Our original date to shop was April 4 and it was cancelled.

    Good to hear most dresses came in earlier though!

    When I went even before COVID, they estimated 16 weeks so 20 seems reasonable. Most of the dresses did come earlier, but one has still not arrived.
