Hello all! How did you pick your Father/Daughter song? I’ve always said I wanted to use a song that my Dad and I would dance to when I was really little all the time, but it’s not a song about a father/daughter relationship. Any thoughts?
My dad and I have a “song” which is hey Jude - the Beatles, but it didn’t feel like the right song so have a dance to.. so we just chose a different beatles song in my life - the Beatles. Which isn’t bridal but still feels like it’s associated to the memories I have with him and hey Jude .
I've had mine picked out since forever, knew Ive always wanted to use it since hearing it as a kid/teen. My little girl by Tim McGraw. Honestly, if a song means something to the two of you/your relationship, even if it's not "wedding", use it! I was literally just at a wedding where the father daughter dance was "rockin robin" lol. The golden rule is to just make sure it's not a love song with lyrics like (laying in bed with you, when we touch/make love, that sort of thing)
I highly recommend letting your dad pick your song! Mine chose a song that he used to listen to when I was a teenager that always reminded him of me then, now that he's giving me away he said he's been playing it all the time on his Playlist and thinks it would be the perfect song for our dance! I couldn't agree more!
I'm a typical "daddy's girl" and always have had a great relationship with my dad so when it came to finding a song that we would dance to at my wedding, I gave him the opportunity to choose it. There's an artist that wrote a song about a father and his son that hit him close to home when my grandfather passed away and that same artist wrote a song about a father and his daughter and it talks a lot about the wedding day and giving the daughter away. It has a nice mixture of myself, my dad and my fiancé and that was the song he wanted. It allowed him to have some involvement in the wedding planning even if he isn't too involved in the typical stuff.
