Hey everyone!

With the new set of restrictions and lockdown, my fiance and I made the decision this week to cancel our wedding in September, and move our date up to July instead and have a small ceremony with some type of lunch for our immediate family afterwards. Our plans have totally changed!

It's too bad as we were looking forward to our big day but unfortunately, I don't see weddings over 100 happening this year.

Have any other couples had to make this decision? What is your wedding update during Covid? Have you postponed? Cancelled for something smaller? Eloped?

Hey we went through the same thing!
Finally We decided we will be having a small ceremony for 10 people with only our family and when COVID allows a bigger celebration! It’s the only thing that feels right at this point 🤍✨

I’m with you - I had no interest in postponing again to 2022 as we’d already done it once last year. We want to start a family and I’m getting older and don’t want to wait much longer.

I hope you get the day you want regardless Smiley smile

We’re in Ontario as well! After the 10 person max we said forget it for September 4 (our guest list is over 300) as we had already postponed from last summer. We want to start a family so we opted to just do the small wedding and start our family sooner!

I hope regardless of what you choose you have the day you want!

That’s all you can do at this point is roll with it! We can’t control it so there’s no point in worrying anymore. I hope you can have the wedding you want - and on my birthday lol!

I hope you can have the wedding you want in October! Our guest list was over 300 and there was just no way we could cut it down to more than immediate family.

We postponed our wedding from June 27, 2020 to June 26, 2021. I am not postponing again. The current restrictions in Alberta only allow 10 people (which includes the officiant), so we're organizing a live stream for our other 100 guests. We had a meeting at our indoor venue last week and it was set up for the intimate ceremony. Honestly it looked beautiful and I'm really excited for our big day. It's taken me a lot of time to come to terms with the fact that we won't be having our large 110 person wedding but I'm in a good place now. I'm just really excited to get married after waiting an extra year!!

We can have outdoor gatherings of 10 people, so we're planning to meet our wedding party for pictures at a different location than the venue after the ceremony. We can't have the big wedding but I'm hoping to incorporate as many traditional elements as possible.

We might do an anniversary party in the future but honestly the stress of postponing and then now dealing with the restrictions again, I have no interest in planning another big event.

Our wedding is currently planned for September 18, 2021 and I am in the same boat! In Ontario, its max 10 people for a wedding until the May long weekend, and a lot can change in the 4 months between then and our date. Were considering all our options now - small ceremony this year and do a big reception and vow renewal next year, postponing the whole thing to next year, or just a small elopement this year. It's heartbreaking to think of moving our date but I know that if we were to have the big wedding we want, I would want to celebrate with everyone and be able to be as safe as we can be, not have to restrict our numbers and feel like we spent a ton of money on us and 5 of our friends and vendors that we need there.

We are August 14, we are getting married regardless. We are currently allowed a 30 person ceremony only in Sask. If we cannot have anymore than 30 or a reception we will go ahead with the ceremony and invite the other 130 who were originally sent invitations last year to join us virtually. Next year we will look at doing a anniversary celebration of some sort, likely not another ceremony but a party. Postponing is looking like waiting til 2023 even for some venues and vendors with postponements from last year, this year and new weddings. We are just rolling with it though!

With just over 2 months to go I know we will be getting married as we postponed from last year already and a small dinner party afterwards. I don’t want to lose hope but being in the GTA means we are in a hotspot. I’m not even sad ... more numb at this stage. I’m all cried out

Sorry you had to change your plans! It’s so stressful planning for the future when you have no idea how it’ll look.
We originally had a guest count of 132 and we have cut it back to 90! Honestly I’m so happy about it. There was a lot of people on the OG guest list that was very heavily influenced by my family. I’m Italian and it’s just frowned upon to have literally everyone there when in reality I don’t necessarily want them there... so it played out very well for us! Our wedding is October 23rd and we’re getting married indoors as well as having our reception indoors. That being said we have secured a tent just incase we need it! Fingers crossed things go as planned and we can stay inside Smiley smile
I’m also not nearly as stressed as some brides, feeling really grateful that I live in a very small town, we have zero covid cases and haven’t for quite a while.I really hope things change for the better for all the bigger cities so everyone can go back to normal life and have their dream weddings!💗

My fiance and I postponed out August 7 2021 wedding just on Wednesday to next summer. We want to be able to have most of our family and friends with us to celebrate and make sure that they are healthy and safe. BC has their restrictions in place until may long weekend and it could be extended you never know these days. And now bcs premier really doesnt want other people coming from other provinces. Theyre having check stops throughout and you could be fined. So since we live in Alberta, it was an easy choice for us to just postpone to next summer. I think once most people get vaccinated things will look a lot better.

I am sorry your plans are changing as well. This past year really has been crazy. We postponed once already from July last year so no matter what we were getting married this year. Its just too bad it can't be exactly how we wanted it. I am excited now that the final decision is made but I have been pretty down that past few months waiting for the inevitable.

It will be a nice touch being in the mountains away from it all for a night. Just a little bit extra to make our day perfect for us.

We are figuring out a virtual ceremony for people to watch as well!
Nice idea about the hotel! Maybe I should run that by my fiancé!

At this time we are only allowed a 10 person ceremony, no receptions and in 28 days we don't see this changing so we have switched gears. We will have the 10 person ceremony and zoom for anyone who wants to "be" there with us. Since we can't have a reception of any kind, we are thinking of doing a picnic in the park after some photos with our 10 people, weather dependent. After that we may stay the night in a hotel and golf the next morning.

We will be planning for a "sequel" wedding for next year where we will do some kind of ceremony and a reception afterwards but we are completely changing plans with this so we are back to square one. Hopefully by then restrictions will be gone or at least super relaxed and we won't have to worry about postponing again.

The times and restrictions taking place since last year have lowered or stopped many weddings to be the way we want it to be. If I were in this time of planning, postponement would be the option unless an intimate wedding took place and Anniversary celebration later next year if things cleared up better. Elopement would be the choice to make rather than feeling low esteemed about the happiness and waiting time being more.
