    Modern, we started living together 6 months before he proposed, but have been together for 2 1/2 years in total

    Modern; we lived together for about 3 years before he proposed. We were able to experience sickness/health, unemployment, fights, etc. and were able to work through all of those obstacles. That was very important to us, to see whether we could be a great team.
