Cocktail hour food - stations, passed, or something else?

Joey, on May 18, 2018 at 09:31 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

I love appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, I think they can be even more tasty and exciting than the main meal! What are you serving for your cocktail hour? How will the food be served?

Stations?

We arent serving anything because it was going to be too expensive. We just made dinner early so people arent hungry for too long

We're having an antipasto bar too with some treats from my culture as well. We will be doing our photos while people try out the meats, veggies, cheese, treats and cocktails.

We had coconut shrimp, mushroom bruschetta and caprese salad skewers. They were passed around as we were doing photos right after the ceremony.

We’re doing something else! We are getting married at a summer camp, and every day at camp when I was a kid we had tuck time (basically everyone goes up to a window and gets to pick a candy bar and a drink). I thought it would be fun if we did this in between the ceremony and reception!

We are doing an antipasto bar (grilled vegetables, meat, cheese, fruit) instead of passed hors d'ouevres because I spend most weddings chasing down the servers for food and we couldn't afford to do both, so it made sense to just do the station.

We had passed service to our guests while they enjoyed their time on the patio and bar.

Passing around! Our photos are being taken in a park and we didn't want our guests waiting around with nothing to do for too long!

Skipping this! It's just an added expense in my opinion. I've rarely been to a wedding that has had cocktail hour.

Something Else! I will be skipping cocktail hour all together to save money Smiley smile We will be doing photos before the ceremony and will just walk straight to the reception a few feet away where we can greet people as they walk in Smiley smile
