Cocktail Hour Entertainment

Jenna, on July 31, 2018 at 08:39 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

I'd like to provide some sort of entertainment during our cocktail hour, does anyone have ideas? Did you have any? Something like a steel drum player, games, a magician walking around?

We had no entertainment since hor d'ouvres were being served and drinks at the bar. A magician would work as people would be in groups watching.

You should 100% get a bouncy castle anyway!

We just had music and let people mingle while we did some photos.

Having a photo booth set up during the cocktail hour wouldn't be too bad... I'm sure some of the ladies would appreciate having some photos while their make-up is fresh... and before they start drinking... haha.

A magician wouldn't go over well with our families... but a steel drum player would be awesome. Definitely unique.

Lawn games are great too. They allow people to be entertained by participating, or just watching others play.

We aren't having any, really - other than some soft, cocktail-y music from our DJ. Really, for us, the cocktail hour is for people to arrive, oh and ahh over the decorations as they find their seat, get their drink(s) for during dinner, and relax after the ceremony. Among our crowd, people will be socializing and won't need entertainment for the 45-60 minutes.

It depends on the interests of your guests! I know for my wedding, a magician would've not gone over too well, but lawn games is the way to go.

I've also seen a photo booth, someone else on here had talked about hiring a caricaturist.

If you do go music, remember the space you are in: I think for cocktail hour, softer music is nice, so brass or woodwind instruments are probably not the way to go, unless it is a large room.

Magician. Lol this is what my FH insists on having. I on the other hand would love a bouncy castle... Other than that we will probably have some yard games for them to play like mega jenga, x's and o's, ring toss, corn hole, etc. Oh and in the background there will of course be music.
