Both are nice. Since I am getting married in the summer a simple back dress is preferred.

I have a strapless dress but the closed back in the photo above is gorgeous! I love detailing like that!

Mine was strapless but then I added straps so it made an open back. The closed back in the picture is gorgeous though!
