Civil ceremony then a brunch

Chiom, on June 19, 2021 at 08:25 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3
Due to Covid we postponed our wedding ceremony to next year 2022.we plan on having the civil ceremony this summer July 31 in Toronto. We are thinking of having a brunch or dinner with friends and family afterwards.I would like to know if anyone has done this before and will love some venue ideas.

Thanks

You can have your concept yes in ways that will work best working on how limitations take place. Civil ceremony being held in a city hall would be best to inquire about how many being present as oppose to a backyard being slightly bigger seating. Brunch can be at a restaurant you like though it would be good to know if they will serve to your guest count. If not able to serve indoors, cater from them for delivery to your home if possible.

Just so you know, if you mean by civil ceremony you plan on getting married at City Hall or a government civic centre, the only place that's open is downtown Toronto City Hall and they're only allowing 4 people max (the couple + the two witnesses). They will provide the officiant. If you want a photographer, it has to be one of your witnesses. Even if you want both sets of parents at the ceremony and no one else, you have to use a different venue as the City Hall wedding chamber is very strict about this.

In terms of having a meal at a restaurant, it's tough to plan unless you keep it a super tight group (no more than 6 people). You'll likely be in Step 3 on July 31 but no one knows what the restrictions are. Indoor dining may resume but we don't know how many are allowed in each space and how many allowed per table. In Step 2, you're allowed 6 people per table. Your best bet is to try for a bar with a large patio but as you can imagine, you could have to book well in advance because they're in high demand after a long lockdown.

    Hello Chiom,
My fiancé and I were thinking of this same option.
Depending on how many people will be coming to brunch or dinner, I believe you can reserve a spot at lovely restaurant.
Do you have any restaurants idea in mind?
