Civil Ceremony

Monica, on April 7, 2019 at 17:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 4
Hi ladies,

Was wondering if any of you have done a civil ceremony? Or plan to? What are some of the details we need to organize? Do I still need to organize music, order of entrance, who escorts me down etc. We are planning to do a civil ceremony, but not sure how to approach planning the small details for the day. We will be having close family and friends attend, max of 50.

Our attention is focused on the following day, with our traditional tea ceremony and reception.

Please share anything and your experience with civil ceremonies!! Thank you!

Thank you Vinod!! These are great suggestions and definitely gives me something to think about. I had no idea where to start with our civil ceremony and just assumed we’d show up and someone would preform the ceremony and done! But I really like the idea of adding some of our own personal touches, thank you!

Some of the details we had for our civil wedding was:

Music: 2 songs chosen as the wedding party and we the Grooms entered

Escorting down the aisle: It was nice that we personally told the ladies (moms) to walk us down. My mom escorted me down and husbands aunt until the staircase. Once in a lifetime memory to remember.

Small details: aisle runners can be done to mark where you want the path by flower petals lining along the chairs, small floral hanging off the edging of the chairs, lanterns, or a runner itself.

You basically have 'carte blanche' meaning that you could approach it any way you'd like! We still wanted to keep it somewhat traditional, so we're approaching it the same way a religious couple would, but without the religious aspect (no church, no minister, no prayers and we're writing our own vows).

In other words, we're still having a ceremony, processional and recessional, including music too! We'll select a couple of readings with our officiant, as well as tell her (I'm pumped to be having a women marry us, btw!!!) what type of vibe we want for the bilingual ceremony.

    Here's a pretty great article about writing/planning a ceremony : https://apracticalwedding.com/writing-wedding-ceremony/

    Here's another one with 3 non-religious wedding ceremony scripts : https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-ceremony-scripts/

    Hope this helps Smiley smile
