Christmas wedding

Elaine, on June 18, 2019 at 21:22 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Anyone on here planning a christms wedding? I've finally pinned down my date to December 5th. Yes! Lol Now to decide between having my reception at a venue or just at my house. So many questions and descions. Lol A venue would be easier I think? But way more expensive.

I agree with all the others in that deciding on your budget and guest list will determine the location. If you are having a smaller wedding where all your guests will fit comfortably at your house then host it there. Would you still have catered? How many bathrooms do you have? You could also look at restaurants but they do tend to book up with other Christmas parties.

Like most others have said, it really is going to come down to your budget and guest list. If you're only planning on having 30 or so people, sure, you can pull this off at home, but if you're going to have more, then I think finding a venue might work better. My mom and sister hosted my shower at home and although it was nice and personal, it was so much work for them. It's made me reconsider ever wanting to host something so important at home lol.

Based on the weather and the distance of the venue to your home, it all depends on how many people can actually seat at the house given the space for food, drinks, etc. Venue is easier in the sense of having all your guests move from one area to another within the same space. Time in between can give them a chance to rest or just change if they need to for reception.

What's your colour scheme for the winter wedding? It will look beautiful from what I imagine your envisioning of the day.

As the others have said, it all depends on your guest list numbers. Since your wedding is in the winter it will be considered off season for most venues and therefore a lot of venues will give you a discount. When comparing the price of a venue versus the price of a home wedding take into account things like chairs, tables, cutlery etc. being included at a venue versus maybe having to rent them if you did a home wedding

I mean, venue's for the most part are more expensive - but not always.

For example, my guest list is 250 people and the cheapest venues we could find were $30,000 and that didn't include the DJ, dress, suit, cake, favours, decor, photographer, videographer, etc. It only covered the venue, food, and booze. Where as if you had an intimate wedding with say, 50 people, you could have it at a fancy restaurant and it would cost you WAY less.

We had 2 top priorities - $$$$$ and 250 people. We weren't willing to compromise on those two things so we did elsewhere (location).

Hi Samuel! Welcome to WeddingWire and congratulations on your engagement!

I agree with Chelsea - how large or small is your guest list?

Are you looking to do more DIY projects? Or, do you want to find a venue that does everything for you?

I think coming up with a budget is the best place to start as well - you’ll be able to find venues (if you choose to go that route) that fit your budget and you can go from there!

I would say it totally depends on your guestlist! There are tons of options for reception menus too that can fit most budgets!
