I'm a Jingle and I'm keeping my name and hyphenating.Winter makes perfect sense and I love winter. I actually wanted to be married on the Solstice but we were concerned there wouldn't be snow and didn't want to burden everyone especially around xmas.

Well you have plenty of time so you're in good shape! The guest list is definitely the best place to start because everything else will be based off of how many people you're inviting. Good luck and welcome to the community! Keep us posted on your plans! Smiley smile

We pretty much picked a general season we liked (early May, because I hate sumer but the cooler spring weather is usually done around then, and people aren't busy with their summer plans yet). Then we started checking out venues and found the one we loved still considered April "winter" in their pricing, so we picked the last weekend!I think being flexible is good because if you find the venue you really love what else REALLY matters?!? Your wedding date will become a new important date in your life whatever it is

All of SamTam's pointers are great ones. In addition I would Consider budget as well. Fall is usually a bit cheaper for weddings than the summer . Friday and Sundays are a bit cheaper too! We were heavily focused on our date because many guests are travelling far to come to our wedding. We are getting married in long weekend may 2018 and found when we were looking for venues, a few of the places we wanted were already booked, because it was a long weekend and those dates are popular. But we needed that date in particular. My recommendation is , if the date doesn't matter , then think of your vision, get your budget together (most important!) , Then once you have that decided, then pick a date to suit your plans!;Hope this helps! No date set yet but wanting a summer or fall wedding in 2018. We don't even have much planned yet. My fiance is stalling as I'm eating for him to make a list of people he wants to invite so we know how big a venue we need to get. As for a vision. I have none yet. I'm not of a big planner myself. So far just me and my mom are planning which is fun but a bit over whelming.

I think everyone is different! Best place to start is what season do you want it in? If you're wanting to do an outdoor wedding then spring or summer would work best. If there's a specific date you want, you need to make sure that your venues are available that day. Otherwise, if a specific venue is your priority, you might have to change your date to fit it.

For us, we wanted a date that was close to our current anniversary and we wanted a date that had meaning for us. We wanted a Saturday since it was an international wedding and would be best for our guests to travel. We had to wait 2 years after we got engaged to get married so we ended up with November 12 which was 5 years and 1 day after our first date! (11/11/11) Our dating anniversary was November 20 so it worked out really well. Our favourite season is autumn so November was a perfect time.

Have you and your fiance decided on a date yet? What is your overall vision for the wedding?
