Certificate of event insurance

Melinda, on August 17, 2017 at 11:32 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 3

My venue is asking for a certificate of event insurance. I'm going to call my insurance company and find out what it is, but just curious, has anyone else had to provide this to their venue? We have a Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO which is related to serving alcohol, but I don't think that's the same thing.

Got it figured out. It's covered under my home owner's insurance and liability umbrella!

Hey. Our venue wants the same thing, all in case of damage. It should say in your contract the exact liability they want you to have....And after research i have found most insurance companies do not deal in event insurance, my venue and My insurance company sent me to PAL canada...they specialize in venue/wedding insurance. They have been great and reasonably priced. Our venue said to have it set up 6 months ahead of time and provide to them 30 days in advance, but again it was all in our contract.
It is different than the SOP you get for alcohol to be on site.

Hi Melinda! I'd ask your venue to explain a little bit more! Do you need to purchase wedding insurance for the reception? Do you need to purchase insurance to serve alcohol? Ask your venue for a few more details so you can get it squared away ASAP!
