Ceremony Decorations vs Reception Decorations

Jennifer, on July 12, 2020 at 09:54 Posted in Plan a wedding 1 6

Hey all!

So my fiance and I decided to stop at our place for the ceremony yesterday to see what we would possibly be able to do for decorations, now I have a few ideas in mind. I am still left stumped, as it is outside in an amphitheater, already surrounded by trees and water in the distance.

Now my question is, how many people think you need to decorate your ceremony close to the same as your reception. Even though they are in two separate places? I was thinking simply but nice for pictures.....

I tried to look up the answer but that was a no go!

Looking forward to your responses!

Thanks!

P.S I do have some pictures on my profile of the ceremony site.

    That sounds very pretty!

We are just looking at draping some sheer around the two front pillars, with a simple back drop. As the surrounding is already really nice setting.

Our Reception is going to have ivy vine runners with black lanterns, royal blue organza sashes. There is going to be more, as we discuss more.

We are doing different decor at ours. Our ceremony is being decorated with tulle pew bows, peacock sparkly ribbon, and purple mums (October wedding). And our reception is more silver accents, white pumpkins, white lanterns, and purple mums. It is nice to have one harmonizing element, like the type/ colour of flowers you use, but not essential.

Thank you, was just thinking very simple, just to give it a little bit, to state that there is a ceremony going to happen in that location.

I don't think the two spaces need to match whatsoever. Think of all the church weddings that end up going to the infinite possibilities for their reception. If they're both beautiful spaces, you're gold. That being said, if your reception is located more or less in the same vicinity as the ceremony, some people do opt to use the ceremony backdrop as the head table backdrop. So if you're already thinking of getting something for the reception and want it behind you in the ceremony that's close by, that could work. But with your particular space, the amphitheater is enough of a nice view in my opinion.

Décor can be based on how much you want to add given the surroundings of the ceremony site. The nature aspect is great if an arch will give that added touch of colour or floral to its surroundings.

Reception is how you feel you want to go about colours upon table cloth and the walls to bring that combination together. The outlook can be simple elegance with its little touches of centerpieces, backdrop and décor. The hall is the opposite and needs work, choose what you want to do and how much of it that will have to be budgeted.
