Catering w/o a kitchen

Kaytee, on November 5, 2016 at 14:03 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Hey,

We might be having out wedding at a venue that does not have a full kitchen for a caterer. Other people that have had their wedding here have used food trucks. Does anyone have any feedback on using a food truck to cater a wedding? The way I picture it in my head is everyone lining up and waiting so long (as you sometimes do with food trucks) to get their food and then going back to their seats at different times to eat. It doesn't seem ideal to me if this is how it goes.

Does anyone know if food trucks generally have a different way of serving bigger parties like weddings? Anyone had any experience with this.

On the other hand, are some caterers able to cater without kitchen facilities?

Of course, I will look into this but am just looking for some ideas and feedback.

Also, any suggestions anyone has for Edmonton and area for food trucks or caterers that might be able to accommodate this sort of thing would be apprecited.

Thanks for all the advice. Yeah the food truck thing seems to be so informal and that definitely not what I want. We haven't really started looking yet as they all need a date and the venues still haven't gotten back to me yet.

Melissa got this bang on! I LOVE food trucks, but I think they make for a more fun late night snack. But I think you'll find many cateerers that can bring in prepared food.

Have you had any luck in your searching yet?

Hey Kaytee! Smiley heart I'm so glad to see how your wedding planning is slowly coming together! Smiley smile

I totally agree with Melissa and I think she gave you great suggestions! You can have a look at the caterers in your area and ask them if they could deliver cooked food Smiley smile

Another idea would be to have food stations with your food truck. That way, your guests are not all waiting for food in the same spot but can rather go to different stations and get food at the same time.

What type of food would you like to serve?

    Hi Kaytee,

I think your concern about the food truck is very valid. Unfortunately I don't know any solution to that side of things! I think a food truck is better suited to the late night snacks, or for a very casual event.

What I do know, is that many caterers will be able to accomodate you! You will want to be sure to make sure they have the equipment and all, but there are options! I used to work in the industry, and catering events delivering hot, cooked food was fairly regular. That said- mostly buffet style.

Not being from your area, I can't offer vendor suggestions, but I wanted to share a glimmer of hope for you!

    Good luck!
