Card/money Box Diy?

Emily, on July 3, 2018 at 19:56 Posted in DIY 0 15
Hi everyone Smiley smile So I'm trying to decide on what to do for our card/money box. We would love to DIY it, but are unsure of the cost. Here's a picture of what we have in mind. Could you share some pictures of your DIYs or ones you've bought for inspiration? Thanks!

We’re using a vintage style suitcase for ours. But our wedding is a rustic vintage style lol.

I am borrowing my friends card box that her family member made her. The letters are not on it anymore, so I am just going to use a mini chalk board sign beside it

My fiancé made ours, similar to this but the card slot is on the top (I don’t have a photo on my phone but can upload one later) the wood cost us about $9 from Home Depot, it was a piece of cedar I think. Then he sanded it down and I painted it with white acrylic paint from the dollar store and then used a copper sharpie to write “cards” on it. So it can definitely be done for less than $15 🙂

We're doing something similar, got a birdcage for $25 at HomeSense and will be painting it and adding ribbon/peacock feathers to it!

A simple box should be easy enough to make and not cost a lot. I find a vintage bird cage at HomeSense for our cards and we spray painted it and plan to use it in our garden next year.

That's the box that my fiancé is going to make for us as well, he just bought a large thing of plywood and cut it to make the box. I don't know exactly how much the wood cost but it wasn't much he said. Then we just paid for the staining so we can make it match the wood in the venue. Once he is finished I will send a pic!

That’s the exact box my FH’s Dad made for his brother’s wedding last weekend! It looked great and we’re going to be using it for ours too!

We rented instead and paid about the same as purchashing about. It was light and slid from the bottom to open.

I wish i had a picture to show

That’s the exact one I asked my dad to make. He was so thrilled to be able to build something for our special day!

Oooo I love that card box! My grandpa made us one, he was inspired by the wine barrels we’re using for decoration.

If there are any farmers around where you are at, you can probably get old barn wood to make it, and then just sand it down, and spray paint, and then either write the script, or do stickers and put a clear gloss coat over everything. Probably would only cost you $15-$20 for everything
