Card Box Ideas Wanted

We just bought a mailbox for our card box. We found the idea on Pintrest and loved it! It will only be out for a certain amount of time, then one of our wedding party members will pick it up for us so that it's not left unattended all night!

I saw that on Pinterest too and just fell in love with it! I sent the plans to my dad and he's beyond excited to make it for us.

Instead of a regular wedding box, we created what I call our "Fairytale wishing well". This is a cedar wishing well that it about 5ft tall from the base to the top of the roof. We created it from just drawing it out from what we wanted in a little well. It has wooden shingles, metal gutters, a special message engraved on the post an old.

My cousin had a hand-crafted birdhouse type of card box made by her father. It was the highlight of things that night!

We like this one because you need a screw driver to open it. My fiancé says that money gets stolen a lot at weddings. So we want something that’s harder to get into. Plus it’s pretty.

My using this one from Walmart. Will decorate with pink and white silk flowers.

I think this is our favourite option so far, we found it on etsy along with our other top faves for cards. optional to get in engraved, and with either a silver or gold lock

I went to the dollar store and bought a box that was in my color scheme already had the word love on the front. we are cutting a hole in the top for sliding cards in and tying a ribbon around it so no one can just reach in and take any cards. No picture yet sorry.

A wedding I went to had a mailbox with a flap like the Canada Post mailboxes so that people couldn't reach in and grab it. The father of the bride made it and it was really cute!

Another wedding I went to had a tree stump looking box where the slit was just large enough for the cards to go through.

This is what we made. Still have couple final touches. It will defintly make sure no one can reach in.

Mine doesn't fit in with your "not able to reach in and take cards out" requirement, but we found an old mailbox at an antique store. We're going to paint it up nice and maybe add some greenery on top. I saw on pinterest some people wrote their names and date on the side, or put "wedding post" on it. Its a cute idea.

Check out the Sorry Girls on youtube. they had a few wedding DIYs a while back and they found a greenhouse at a thrift shop and made it into a cute card box. Or is you dont want the hassle of thrifting and DIYing but like the the little greenhouse idea, Ikea has them (the one pictured below is Ikea).

I saw micheal's has some cute boxes out. Can be re-used for other purposes not just cards. We plan to just have a place card in front of our card box that says "cards" so if we want to use it for something else in the future or re-sell then we can without restricting the use of it.

Rental an option? It saves the time and effort to keep the box after.

Does it have to be a box or are you open to something different? We had an old bird cage.
