Can't Decide on Supper

Marcy, on January 17, 2020 at 18:06 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11

FH and I have decided to go with a more traditional meal - Roast Beef. However, we'd like to elevate it somehow or make it different than the regular boring old meat and potatoes. What kinds of sides are you having with your meal? I thought about yorkshire pudding instead of dinner buns, but I'm at a loss for anything else...

Ours comes with potatoes, greens beans, carrots and peppers.

You’d be surprised how many guests love the meat and potatoes fare though, especially my FH he hates vegetables lmao

Vegetable medley can replace the potatoes and yorkshire pudding keep as replacement for the bun. Au jus would be a great gravy served in a gravy boat on the table along with horseradish.

That’s very true! Both of our families are also pretty traditional, so familiar foods would make them happy I’m sure! Thanks for the suggestion I like those ideas!

You can go with elevated versions of the classics, like garlic mashed potatoes instead of plain ones, or honey and herb glazed carrots. When you're feeding a big group sometimes a little familiarity helps unless it's a room full of adventurous eaters. My dad is a super picky eater, so too many syllables or ingredients would scare someone like him!
We had Yorkshire pudding at our office Christmas party and it was really popular. We had turkey and roast beef so they were paired with roasted potatoes and garlic mashed ones, as well as honey glazed carrots and a sweet and savory squash.

FH's cousin had roast beef at his wedding and they paired it with a grilled red pepper stuffed with ricotta and mascarpone cheese with mushrooms, onion, cherry tomatoes, and fresh herbs. It was amazing and I've replicated it at home. I also love Yorkshire pudding, so definitely with you on that one!
