Calling everyone with a holiday wedding!

Joey, on December 1, 2018 at 14:05 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

What holiday are you getting married on, or near? Why did you choose that holiday? Was it due to the fabulous decor inspo? The time off work? The special meaning behind the holiday?

Would you recommend getting married on a holiday? Why or why not?

We are getting married on Thanksgiving Sunday. There is no special meaning it just happens to be a weekend that will work for us. FH's family is all from the east coast and they will need to travel.

I outright refused a holiday wedding. as I didn't want to take a long weekend away from friends/family. my bday is on a sort of holiday (valentine's day). and I hate growing up it always took away from my bday.

so we just picked a random weekend.

January 19th, so the closest holiday is New Years, or Christmas, but that's not why we picked it... It was actually because it was the most "nothing going on", boring, mundane weekend of the year... haha. And it lined up with the cruise we wanted to take for our honeymoon!

I guess I'm able to pull a little winter decor/inspo... However, I deliberately have said NO Christmas decor... I LOVE Christmas (I decorate in November)... but I'm not having a Christmas themed wedding.

Our date is October 5th so I guess it's technically the closest to ThanksGiving which is on the 14th next year. It had no meaning other than us not wanting it to be our wedding date to avoid people missing their ThanksGivings and to avoid feeling the need to provide "that kind of food". Oh and we also didn't want to make a weekend of Thanks into all about us Smiley tongue

Only thing I would add is that we did have a couple people that couldn’t attend because they have vacations planned over Christmas. But that could happen any time of year.

We are getting married the Saturday that falls between Christmas and New Years. We picked this time because we knew all our immediate family would be in town. And most people take off between Christmas and New Years. We also didn’t want to wait until next summer to get married.

Im so glad we picked this time. We’ve had no issues picking vendors and planning in just a few months because it’s not a popular time to get married. I also love Christmas!! Now that we’re in the Christmas season I’m getting even more excited. We have so many options for decor including the many Christmas trees our venue already has decorating our space. Everything is looking just so pretty and magical! Both our families are super excited and the holidays are making it extra special.
