Calling brides with a large bridal party!

Ashley, on November 17, 2017 at 15:25 Posted in Beauty 0 20

Hi Everyone,

I am having a dilemma about the timing for make up application for my plus 6 bridesmaids and my mum and grandma. I do not want to start my day at 6:30am but I didn't realize how long it takes to apply make up. We will be leaving for our venue at 2pm and our hair stylist will be coming at 8am. Any suggestions for morning of timing for girls with large bridal parties?

Thank you beautiful ladies!

Update! I have booked two make up artists so now my day starts at 9am rather than 6am! Yippie!

Thank you ladies for all of your insight!

I gave my girls that option but none of us are make up people that we all decided it was best to get our makeup done!

I found an artist is going to bring an assistant, but some of these companies were charging so much to bring an assistant! Plus travel fees! NO THANK YOU!

My makeup artist has an assistant who does everyone's foundation (other than mine) and that helps her to make things quicker!

I have 8 Maidens & 2 flower girls we're all heading out and start time is 9 am - 11:30 then back to get dressed. I say ask for an extra artist or hair specialist for sure, unless of course they want to do their own makeup.

Probably just get them to do it themselves.

I would suggest multiple makeup artists. We were only 4 people having hair and makeup done and my hair lady came at 9am and the makeup at noon so that I could be getting ready just after 3 for our ceremony at 4.

I asked my girls who wanted to have their hair and make up professionally done, you could do that too and provide them with pricing. Another option is booking an appointment for them at a local salon and having them meet up at your place by 9am.

Ya one of my 5 girls is comfortable doing her own hair and makeup. Nobody else actually wears makeup on a day to day basis so like me wouldnt even know where to start. Is it tacky of me if i ask them to find someone to do their hair on their own? Like if i say meet at my place by 09:00 but have your hair already done?

Some one mentioned below maybe having some of the girls do their own hair or make up if that would work out? Otherwise you may have to find a make up artist who has a partner and can do two people at once.

I gave everyone the option if they wanted to get their hair/make up done and everyone said yes because they want to be pampered lol

I am hoping that I can find a make up artist that has a partner.

How long on average does makeup take?? I have 5 bridesmaids and they almost all want their makeup and hair done. I havent thought about timelines and stuff yet but we need to be at our venue for 12:00 (It is only a 5 min drive from my house) Is that even going to be possible??

I feel you! I have 8 bridesmaids. One is a trained MUA, a few of the others have above average makeup skills. Like you, I do not want to spend 8 hours getting ready. Our ceremony is at 7 in the evening, our pictures start at 4:30 pm. I'm booking the hair at a salon, half of them at 11:00 am and the other half at 12:00 pm. They can choose to have their make-up done at the salon by an artist or DIY afterwards. I'll be paying for the hair, but it's not in our budget to pay for both services. I've hired a make-up artist to come to our house to do my make-up, my mother's, MIL and my cousin. It had to be a minimum of 4. Maybe you could have the make-up as optional?

So I had 4 girls, my mom and myself getting ready and one of my flower girls who was just getting her hair curled a bit. We had our makeup artist come first around 6:30/7am - I can't exactly remember. My hairstylist came about 7:30/8am. and then we had one person getting hair done, while another was getting makeup done. This kept things moving, and by 1:50, we were all good to head over to the ceremony - which started at 2.

Thank you Andrea, I know my hair stylist will have a second girl with her but the make up artist I am looking into is a stand alone girl. Thank you!

My sister had 7 bridesmaids plus the mom's. We did start our day super early. My only advice would be to make sure your hairstylist and makeup artist have assistants lined up to work with your girls to help the process go by quicker!
