Cake cutting

Randa, on May 28, 2018 at 20:52 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
When are you doing your cake cutting. We have outdoor cocktails till about 5:30 then come in for dinner which will go till about 7:30. Photographer is only there till 7:00. Videographer till 8:30. I was thinking of doing a fake pose for the photographer before dinner then the real one around 8:00 for the video. We are serving cake around 8:30-9:00. Not sure if that will work. Hoping to hear other ideas.

Randa, I think your idea sounds spot on. If you plan to do a cake cutting in front of your guests I'd do it around 8 or 8:15p, and you can stage one for the photographer prior to the dinner. I did my cake cutting about an hour or so after our dinner ended.

Unless your cutting the entire cake for all your guests it will take a long time for the venue to cut it all. I say go ahead and even cut it before dinner for your pictures and video together and have that first taste. The venue can then take it away and slice it up to have it served later when your ready. I’ve definitely seen this done before (so long as your cake is not this big central focal point of your reception decor).

We are having an evening ceremony at 630. Cocktail reception at 830 so cake will be done before anything else. I want to do something different.

We we are doing things the way we want to do it.

I don't see a problem with cutting it before supper. Say that you couldn't wait to try it! Or that you couldn't wait to try and get cake all over his face!

Wr cut our cake one time at 6:45 for both the pictures and video before dinner. This way we enjoyed our party afterwards.

The cake can be served on the sweet table or sliced to your guests.
