Budget for Grooms Tux

Carla, on August 21, 2019 at 15:18 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 13

Hey Everyone!!

Hoping to get some ball park costs on how much everyone is spending on their groom! I hoping for a very well tailored black tux. Wondering how to get a great fit for a great price! Any suggestions would be great! I'm in Ontario if it helps!

I think Tip Top's is about $200 to rent.

They have color and styles options.

    That includes everything, even shoes.

Everyone I’ve talked to in the last 6 months have told me they paid $250 for a tux rental.

Yes they had multiple shades of blues and greys and standard blacks. And tons of colours for squares and ties/bow ties. I hadn’t either but I highly suggest looking into them if they have a location near you!

Oohh! I've never heard of that store, I'm totally going to check it out! Did they have a lot of colours for jackets and vests and whatnot?

We are in Ontario. If you are near any Collins formal wear location they are great. We went to Moore’s cause our party wanted to rent and my hubby wanted to buy. Their rental selection was extremely disappointing and they don’t allow you to purchase the rental line. We wanted to buy for the same reason, we want it tailored to him. So we went to Collins and they were amazing, massive selection of tuxes and suits. You can purchase the line so your FH can match his guys AND they tailor their rentals to each guy. So what we ended up doing is renting my hubbys since the rental comes tailored anyway and they had a promotion if you rent 6 suits or tuxes you get a $400 gift card (which he can use afterward for a purchase of the suit of his choice). Each guy is paying $275 ish which includes the tux rental, shoes, belt, shirt, tie, pocket square, vest and cuff links! Highly recommend them.

Try Ali Express if you have time. Read the descriptions carefully and message the vendor that’s where my honey is purchasing his attire.

We are going back and forth between buying a new suit or renting a tux. Since he's wearing it I left that up to him.

We bought an entire Calvin Klein suit for $250 (it was 50% off last years stock). Shoes were about $80, undershirt was $40. All from Tip Top Tailors.

I forgot to mention who he used. He went to Fusaro Suits in Hamilton.

Well, we splurged. FH spent $1500 on a really nice, dark suit. That was actually on sale. He needed a suit anyway and he looks amazing! It was custom fitted for him.

Honestly for a tuxedo unless you’re purchasing it used you’re probably looking at about $800-$1000 to purchase, not including any alterations. Tuxedos are a lot pricier than a suit and honestly unless he’s going to have an opportunity to wear it again I strongly urge you to rent or purchase a suit instead since they tend to be cheaper and a lot easier to get more wear out of. A lot of brides & grooms came in when I worked at a suit store asking and they didn’t realize just how expensive buying a tuxedo can get.

We just did rental suits for all our guys from Moore’s. The whole package was around $220. They get so much in that package (shirt, jacket, pants, vest, suspenders, pocket square, socks, cuff links and shoes) and because they had 5 people doing full suit rentals, FH gets $400 to use at Moore’s

We got a custom Italian suit made from Moore's and it was just over $800 (although we used a discount from a wedding show) and was a 3 piece with the customized text embroidered in it.

To be fair, the way my FH is built he has really broad shoulders and a skinny waist so custom was the only way to go without it looking funny. He has that inverted triangle body so for it to fit him we went this route.
