Bridesmaids dresses!

Lail Ruttan, on June 8, 2019 at 00:12 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 10
So my wedding is in October and I'm not sure if its just my anxiety but... none of my bridesmaids have dresses (and one still has no suit) and I'm stressing out! When I asked them I had the idea in mind that the dresses didn't have to match I just wanted burgundy. I want everyone to pick out their own dress so they feel comfortable with style and price. Heck I had the idea that this way if they wanted to they could wear the dress again. This also worked because some are scattered in far flung corners and cant make it to a "pick a dress" date.
Now no one but me has a dress and I'm not sure if i should be panicking. Also I'm not sure how to bring it up. I have been giving subtle suggestions I just dont want to become "that bride".
Any suggestions or input is greatly appreciated.

I like your plan of action lol.. I think it will be effective for sure if they don't have a choice and just have to pick something. Ugh, I don't know why it takes us ladies so long to pick a dress, probably because there's so many more options than there are for suits!

You know! For that colour it might be better to wait! That's a fall colour so mid to late summer is a good time for fall coloured dresses! Maybe they're looking but everything is florals and pastels right now Haha! I would worry! If they're going shopping and buying dresses they likely wont have to wait to order one like at David's bridal so theres no need to panic!

Yah I'm thinking even just taking them to the mall where theres enough dress stores to choke an elephant, and being like sorry but I need you guys to find something. Then maybe take them for coffee and snacks to soothe them lol. I'm kinda wishing I had the groomsmen they are efficient, dudes all got their suits in one go.

I know you don't care if they match, but if I were you, I'd probably tell them that they no longer get the "freedom" to pick their own dresses and everyone just has to go to a big Canada-wide bridal store (like David's Bridal) and order the same one (and get the person wearing the suit to have a matching tie). It drives me nuts when people can't respect that there's a timeline and everything needs to come together lol.

When it came to keeping people on schedule and staying organized I never worried about being “that bride” because out of everyone involved in the wedding I have always been the most organized by far! No one in my wedding party got upset, a couple actually thanked me for the reminders.
When we went shopping for the bridesmaids dresses we were told they would take 3-4 months to come in though so I would get them to go soon!

They dont need to match I gave my girls (and man) a color swatch and said "go" lol. So whatever they felt comfortable with was the goal. I've given them examples over group chat but all I get is a that's nice. The guy though has got an idea of what he wants for a suit and has a game plan, go figure the mans the go getter in my bridal party. 🤷‍♀️ I live right next to west Edmonton mall so it's not like they dont have options for dress shopping. Guess I'm going to have to make a girls day with the near by ones maybe get them motivated.

Were you hoping for them to be the exact same colour? Or will they be buying them from retail stores? If it's the latter of the two then I would just make a group chat and ask to see pics as a way to nag without nagging.

If you were wanting them to be the same colour and from a BM dress store - that may prove to be more difficult as I know when I was looking for my wedding the places I contacted told me that since my wedding was on October 5th, they wouldn't order them any later than May 5th (5 months before the wedding).

I agree with Miranda. Set a date to have everyone go out shopping. Then for those who can’t make it, let them know they need to have their dresses by a certain date.
For my bridesmaids I had to schedule a time to go pick out dresses so I knew they had them! Sometimes people need a little bit of a push. My bridesmaids are very last minute and laid back, and I feel Like if I didn’t make an appointment it may have taken longer!

Thanks! Maybe I'll gather the nearby ones and have a day out planned. Fingers crossed the out of province ones will decide soon lol. Its funny all the groomsmen (and groomswoman) have their suits ordered and done. I figured the men would be harder to wrangle up.

Maybe schedule a ‘pick a dress’ date after all? I think that’s a fun trip anyway. Whoever can’t make it will feel more motivated to buy one when they see you’ve all got your dresses? I’m sure it’s fine still a couple months to go!
