Bridesmaids Dress Textures!

Elizabeth, on February 17, 2020 at 19:48 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 13
Hey everyone I’m thinking of having a mixture of colours and textures and I’m wondering what your thoughts on the mix’n match trend was!

Yess!! I definitely like the idea of them all being in the same length if they’re all gonna be in different colours and textures!

Totally! And yes there would be no expectation of guests to avoid the mixture of colours!

Personally I say to go one way or the other, either have the same material/texture but mixed colours, or have different material/texture but the same colour (wouldn't be exact depending on the types of fabric used of course - but close enough). Otherwise I find it hard to separate the wedding party from the regular guests - which if you're okay with then I mean, go for it?

I'm also going for mix and match to give my bridesmaids the option of wearing whatever they're most comfortable in. I think you can definitely have a mix of colours (ex. your wedding colours or shades of one colour look nice) and even textures are fine - my one bridesmaid chose a dress with ruching. The only things I really wanted consistent were the length and chiffon material.

I think it would be good to do one of the two, either mix of textures or mix of colours. Doing both might be a bit distracting. I also agree with Amelia about the length: that usually ties the looks all together. I mixed textures because my sister and SIL loved and felt comfortable in completely different styles; but I kept the same colour, and I think things still looked cohesive.

Totally! I think I’m kinda on the same page as you and that’s exactly why I want everyone in their own dress that they love!

I love mix and match dresses. I think it's an awesome way for each bridesmaid to get a flattering (and potentially more budget friendly) option for them. It's so hard to find a dress everyone feels comfortable in and that looks universally good.

To me as long as they're the same length I think you can mix and match in different fabrics, necklines, and even colors. I've seen some really cool blue/navy or blush/burgundy gradient dresses where each BM is a slightly different shade in the same color family (like a paint chip, but cute. Does that make sense?).

Mix and match colours can look really pretty but I would recommend keeping within the same fabric family and not mixing textures. For example, satin will look shiny in photos compared to a chiffon or mesh fabric.
