Bridesmaids Dress as Wedding Gown?

Megan, on March 10, 2020 at 17:56 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 5

I was looking online at David's Bridal for dresses, and I found some bridesmaids dresses that were really pretty and definitely me. I was wondering if people would be able to tell it wasn't a wedding gown if I end up choosing a bridesmaid dress. Anyone else experience this?

My mom is also getting married, she does not wear dresses, like ever. (although she is wearing a dress for mine). She had come for a visit & we went to just look at dresses. I found mine & she found herself, it's a bridesmaid dress, & not in white, but she loved it so that's what she's wearing for her eventual wedding. If you love the dress, then get it. No reason not to

I am SO not the "wedding dress" type lady. I don't like frills or poof so my dress is an "occasion" dress that I tried it on in red but ordered it in ivory. It felt amazing and I looked amazing. I think you wear what makes YOU feel the best on YOUR special day no matter what the label is. Adding all the sparkle after as well will just be an added bonus. Smiley smile

I don't think it matters! Buy whatever you want - you're still the bride and you can wear whatever you want (I almost bought a bridesmaids dress as a wedding dress too).

I don't think most people would be able to tell.
Wedding dresses vary so wildly these days that there isn't a strict set of rules about what a wedding dress needs to be. Plus once you add bridal-y accessories like a veil, headpiece, bouquet etc. it will feel a lot more bridal.
