Bridesmaid Swatches are in! Now, what blue do I use?

Allison, on March 25, 2019 at 11:29 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 54

Hello Ladies,

First things first, I finally have all my swatches that I ordered now!! I was waiting on the David's Bridal ones but they finally came in last week.

Bridesmaid Swatches are in! Now, what blue do I use? 1

Now, I ordered 3 colours: the purple is called Regency (Both DB and Azazie) and it's definitely the purple I want to use. I also ordered two blues: a Malibu (DB) and Pool (Azazie) colour and a Spa (both DB and Azazie) since I didn't know which one I'd like better.

And I still don't know, after looking at the swatches for a week now I'm stumped. The Malibu/pool is closet to my vision but I like the warmth that the Spa colour brings to the palette. My ideal colour would be somewhere in between the two, but can't do that.

I'm leaning more towards the Pool/Malibu hue but I'm here for some opinions/input! I'm doing mix and matched with my bridal party (2 in blue, 2 in purple, like the images below) so I'm trying to decide:

Which blue should we go with? Attached are 2 inspiration pics using both pool and spa colours. Our colours are teal/turquoise and purple, and we're doing a peacock theme. Wedding is in October but getting married in a tropical atrium.

Pool and Regency (ignoring the black shawls)

Thanks!

I mean being too long is definitely better than being too short anyways! but with long dresses it might be better, as they get your hollow to floor measurement for custom.

That will look beautiful! Good choice Smiley smile

I've been waiting all weekend to see this post lol!!

I'm glad custom seems like the way to go, definitely worth to get a great fit! We're doing long dresses so will definitely need to factor in hemming, glad Azazie reimburses part of the cost.

I've also decided on the Spa colour to go with Regency so all set that way!

So after the try on ... really good feedback. All the girls are super happy with the quality of the dresses, and say they are nice and light. The 3 that ordered custom all came perfectly. Two fit like a glove, and the only one that’s loose is because she lost 15 pounds since she ordered. The two off the rack sizes both fit really well as well, with exception of their straps need to be tightened by an inch or so. The only other complaint is all the dresses sit past the knee, where I would prefer them to sit an inch or two above as they were supposed to. But a hem is a quick fix, and for the girls that got custom they will be reimbursed atleast part of the cost. I think custom is definitely the way to go as long as your girls do their measurements correctly. (Mine didn’t want to risk it, and paid 10 bucks for a seamstress to do it) but everyone’s happy. I’m happy. The colours are beautiful. And match the bow ties perfectly. It’s hard to tell in pictures because of different lighting.

Update: I compared the swatches with my shoes and spa definitely matched better! So I'm going to go that route. Thanks everyone for their input!

I also found the paint chips I got early in the engagement that I used for decor, and the spa matched way better!

I'd rather stick to only using 2 colours. I order yet another swatch this morning that might work too.

I'm leaning towards spa right now, I like the vibe it gives off with the purple.

What if you used the purple and then one of each of the blues, they all look well together? Or keep both blues in mind and when they find the dress then see what blue it comes in? Keep us posted!

They all have to be ordered within like 24 or 48 hours of each other as well, so that the dye lot is the same. To be sure of no color variation. If your ladies aren't reliable in remembering deadlines (as some of mine aren't) that can be an issue with ordering separately too.

Thankfully I only had to strongly encourage one of my bridesmaids a couple times. Smiley xd

I just set out before ordering the time frame in which I needed them to pay me back - which was like a month for them to figure it out. And reminded them that there would be an additional charge for customs when they arrived... I gave them all a month to pay again (as thats how long my cc billing cycle is) but all of them except for the same "one" has sent me money for that already too.

I think as long as you clearly outline all the costs, and your expectation of when they need to pay you back it should be good. I mean they are all adults, and they all agreed to take on this financial responsibility.

That's awesome! I might consider the same thing!

I live near the border and can ship stuff to a package pick-up facility. Usually what they make me pay coming back in is definitely cheaper than shipping to Canada in some cases. The only thing I'd be worried about is getting my girls to pay me back. (they would, might take some time though).

I ordered all together and shipped to myself. Their shipping price goes by total cost, and its a better deal the more you buy.

If you ship individually I think its like 35 a dress, where as my whole order was 68.95.

Just have to do a little math to figure out costs for the girls/guys if they are paying.

Side note - the ties/bowties I ordered match the dresses so well!

I also just love the options and variety of colours and cuts.

Yeah the price isn't as stellar as it seems, but it is still really good compared to a lot of options.

I gave my girls a guideline of what I wanted (Colour/length/straps not sleeves/material) and they all picked their own dress. But all still work together. They appreciated the selection as well. And yeah all my girls are trying on dresses this weekend. Three of them ordered custom sizing so I will let you know how that goes!

For a moment there I thought you were referring to $200 in custom charges for the swatches and I was about to lose my mind haha then I realized you meant the dresses. Which THANK YOU for that because I had not even thought about that at all, that does change my perception on it a bit. I agree it is still a good price but not AS good as a price as I initially thought. That all being said, I like how they go about the custom sizes and alterations. Thank you again!

Just keep in mind you will have customs charges when they came in.. but after exchange, customs, and shipping they still came in right around 200.00 Where as most I was looking at in a store started at 250.00 plus tax.

My total cost was $1176.46 CAD shipped, customs, everything.

That includes 5 dresses. 3 bow ties. 2 Adult Ties. 2 Pocket Squares .2 Youth Ties.

Dress 1 - 109.00 USD - Worked out to 149.04 CAD at time of exchange

Dress 2 - 109.00 USD - Worked out to 149.04 CAD at time of exchange

Dress 3 - 109.00 USD - Worked out to 149.04 CAD at time of exchange

Dress 4 - 99.00 USD - Worked out to 135.36 CAD at time of exchange

Dress 5 - 99.00 USD - Worked out to 135.36 CAD at time of exchange

3 Bowties @ 13.00 USD - Worked out to 17.77 CAD each at time of exchange

    2 Youth Ties - 10.00 USD Each - 27.35 CAD total

2 Ties & Pocket Squares - 25 CAD Each Set- 34.18 CAD Each Set

Shipping - 68.95 USD worked out to 96.59 CAD (Their shipping rates vary by total cost of order) https://www.azazie.com/shipping

    Customs/Duties/Tax was 213.37 CAD

Also for any custom sizes they reimburse for alterations.

Dress $99 or less - Reimbursement limit $35
    Dress $100 - $199 - limit $50

Hope that helps and gives you an idea.
