Bridesmaid dresses off the rack?

I think it depends on you and your vision.
Personally I’m having my girls order and all will have the same dress except my MOH has the option to have a different dress. I don’t want to many dresses that are different because it doesn’t always look good.
I was in a wedding were we were told only the have blue. Two were navy, one was baby and one was teal, one was knee length, 3 were full length, one was super tight, one was a line and 2 were flowing. Just looked awful. They were all off the rack at different stores and different seasons. If that’s the case be apart of it because since we were on our own it looked awful. The bride regrets it at the end of the day because she has these photos with mismatched, unorganized chaos in dresses were the guys all matched and looked good. If you can manage to make it with you vision then go for it! But if not don’t compromise on what you want.
At the end of the day the girl(s) are there to support you and should agree to whatever you decide no matter the cost. The role of a BM is to pay for their own outfit (even though some gift it) so if you love it go for it!

My one bidesmaid gave me the recommendation of azazie, you’re able to make a show room, so I’m picking a variety of dresses I like with a variety of pricing so they can pick what they feel comfortable wearing and spending. I have found some very reasonable dresses so far 😊

It keeps the cost lower and it may be something they wear again. I was in a wedding where we got our dress from Le Château and another wedding where I bought it at the Bay. Both beautiful. Both worn again and again! Nowadays, some regular dresses are more fancy than the bridal selection.... if it makes sense for you, do it. It’s your day and there’s no set way to do it!

Totally. If you give them a clear outline of what you want (color, length, any deal breakers like butt bows). If you pick a more neutral color (think of black, burgundy, navy) or a color palette (shades of blue, or blush tones) it will be easier for everyone to pick up something they love that will either match or complement one another.


I love the idea of little black dresses or jumpsuits. Classic, elegant, and something they will actually wear again!
