Bridal dresses

Hi!
Hoping some might have some guidance before going dress shopping.

I’m looking to go dress shopping in the near future. I’m not wanting to spend a lot of money on the dress as I feel spending that much on a dress for one day is a bit much for me. I’m trying to prepare myself because I know if I find a dress and fall in love with it, I’ll just buy it regardless of price 😂. Considering going dress shopping to see what I like and maybe buying online.
Any tips on how to approach this with bridal store staff and not get judged by them? Any great experiences - send me where you went? Did you buy online? Where did you go? I’m not getting married until next June, so any good sale times for dresses I should be looking at?
Thanks!!!

I think that going through the clearance section FIRST is super helpful ! Without looking at anything else !
I did this and I think that the clearance dress ended up being my second favourite !

I got my dress at a consignment bridal boutique. They carried previous seasons styles for much cheaper as well. I would look for a place like this and be candid with the sales lady, that you have a budget and do not want to be shown anything over that. If they are any good they will respect that and still help you find your dream dress!

To be honest every designer is different for pricing. You can find a dress anywhere from $500 to $20,000. Also every province has different bridal stores so you might want to maybe call around and just see what each price range is before you go so you don't go to one store that only carries all of the really expensive dresses.

I paid $2450 for my wedding dress in Alberta back in 2019

    Thanks Amanda!
What is considered an average cost for a dress? A quick Google search said $1500 in Manitoba, is that around correct in your opinion?

Always always always have a budget set before you walk in and let your consultant know how much your budget is right away!

Give the staff your budget, they are supposed to stay within that budget and I think most are good with doing so.
Someone else already mentioned the stores I also suggest which are David’s bridal and online Azazie.
    Have fun!

I gave a max budget to the store I went to, she only showed me dresses in my price range. You can always call a store and see when they have their clear out sales or off the rack sales.

Azazie has dresses $20 to try on if you don't like it you send it back.

David Bridal often has dresses on sale for under $1000.

Hi Ainsley! So exciting and congratulations!

This might be rare, but I bought my dress online and it worked out perfectly for me. I'm a little non traditional and just did not want the whole in store bridal experience but I have heard from friends that if you go in with a firm budget, the staff should really help guide/only pull dresses within that price range. I would also be aware of who you bring with you because it can be overwhelming and a lot in one day and I think it's wise to have a small group/those that will listen to what you really want and not try to be too opinionated...

I bought my dress from Anthropologie but prior had ordered some off of Lulus. A lot of stores online I am noticing have added a whole "wedding" tab or "little white dress" tab so I found a really great variety online! Also Park & Fifth Co. has some nice stuff.

    Good luck! Smiley heart
